Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the ATH ATH-Lux 3D and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ATH-Lux 3D is a wheel alignment system designed for precise measurement and adjustment of vehicle chassis angles. It operates on a Windows® platform and utilizes infrared CCD cameras for angle readings, displaying data with 0.01-degree precision. The system features a comprehensive vehicle databank with over 19,000 vehicles, including reference data for various angles, and allows for personalized vehicle data entry and storage. It also includes a job records archive and a user databank for managing customer and operator information.

Function Description:

The primary function of the ATH-Lux 3D is to measure and adjust characteristic alignment angles of a vehicle. These angles include:

  • Toe (Vorspur/Parallélisme): The angle between the equatorial plane of the wheel and the axis of symmetry or thrust axis of the vehicle. Measured in degrees or millimeters (or inches).
  • Camber (Sturz/Carrossage): The angle between the equatorial plane of the wheel and the vertical plane. Positive camber occurs when the upper part of the wheel is angled away from the vehicle. Measured in degrees.
  • Caster (Nachlauf/Chasse): The angle formed between the vertical and an imaginary extension of the steering axis on the longitudinal plane of the vehicle. Measured with wheels turned 10° or 20°. Measured in degrees.
  • King Pin Inclination (Spreizung/Inclinaison du pivot de fusée): The angle formed between the vertical and an imaginary extension of the steering axis on the transversal plane of the vehicle. Measured with wheels turned 10° or 20°. Measured in degrees.
  • Steering Angle Difference (Differenz Lenkeinschlagwinkel/Différence de l'angle de braquage): The difference in steering angles of the front wheels, conventionally measured with the inner wheel turned 20°. Measured in degrees.
  • Set Back (Radversatz/Désaxement): The difference in position of one wheel with respect to the other on the perpendicular of the vehicle's longitudinal axis. Measured on front and rear axles. Measured in degrees.
  • Thrust Angle (Fahrachswinkel/Angle de poussée): The angle formed between the axis of symmetry of the vehicle and the direction of travel of the rear axle. Measured in degrees.

The system guides the operator through various procedures, including:

  • ROC (Run-Out Compensation) Program: Compensates for rim off-center and off-plane conditions. The "Push Mode ROC" allows simultaneous compensation on all four wheels by pushing the vehicle for a distance corresponding to a wheel rotation of approximately 30°. Applicable to 4WD vehicles.
  • Steering Angle Measurement: Calculates caster, king pin angle, included angle, and toe-out on turn at 10° or 20° steering.
  • Rear and Front Axle Measurement and Adjustment: Displays measured angles and reference tolerances, with continuous updates to facilitate adjustments.
  • Jack & Hold Program: Allows adjustment of characteristic angles with the relevant axle lifted, by "freezing" the values displayed for the vehicle lowered, ignoring variations caused by lifting.
  • Chassis Clearance Screen: Displays chassis clearance values for vehicles requiring adjustments based on chassis height.
