Overview

The Atlona AT-UHD-EX-70C-KIT and AT-UHD-EX-70C-RX are 4K/UHD HDMI over HDBaseT TX/RX extenders with control and PoE capabilities. These devices are designed to transmit 4K (UHD), 2560x2048, IR, RS-232, and lossy/lossless audio signals up to 230ft (70m) over a single category cable, providing an affordable, high-quality solution for audio and video distribution.

Function Description:

The AT-UHD-EX-70C-KIT includes both the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) units, while the AT-UHD-EX-70C-RX is the standalone receiver unit. The system extends audio/visual content, IR, and RS-232 control signals. It supports resolutions up to 4K (UHD) 60Hz with chroma sub-sampling 4:2:0 8-bit. The units feature IR ports for use with IR remote controls and third-party IR controllers, enabling comprehensive control over connected devices. Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality is provided from the transmitter to the receiver, simplifying installation by eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the receiver end. The system supports multichannel audio pass-through, including formats like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Dolby Atmos. Full 3D pass-through is also supported, and the system is HDCP 2.2 compliant, ensuring compatibility with the latest protected content. Usage Features:

Category Cable:

For optimal performance, especially with 4K (UHD) signals, CAT6a/7 solid core cables are recommended.
A 568B termination is required for the category cables.
Using the correct RJ45 connector type for the cable (e.g., CAT5e/6 cables with CAT5e RJ45 connectors, CAT6a with CAT6a connectors, CAT7 with CAT7 connectors) is crucial to prevent interference and signal loss. "EZ RJ45 connectors" are not recommended with HDBaseT extenders due to potential EMI/RFI interference.

Panel Descriptions (TX Unit):

Firmware: Mini-B USB port for connecting to a Windows computer for firmware updates.
Yellow Link LED: Indicates HDBaseT OUT port status. Solid for a good signal, blinking for disconnected or non-transmitting signals, and off for no signal.

Captive Screw Connectors:

These connectors allow for precise cable termination, reducing clutter and improving connection reliability.
Wires must be correctly terminated, touching the contact plate for signal transmission. Screws are turned clockwise to raise the contact bar and secure the wires, and counter-clockwise to release them.
Power Cable: Two exposed wires (black for negative, white for positive).
RS-232: Pin out determined by the RS-232 cable, connecting as Rx (receiver), Tx (transmitter), and ground.

Power Chaining:

A single power supply can power multiple kits (up to three with the included supply, or four with the optional AT-PSU-48V1.25A).
Requires wago splicing connectors, 18/2 AWG stranded wire, a ventilated 1 RU rack shelf, zip ties, and high-temperature hook and loop strips.
The power supply cable wires are connected to wago splicers (white to power/+, black to ground/-).
Individual 18/2 AWG stranded wires (black/red for -/+) connect from the wago splicers to the transmitter captive screw connectors, ensuring consistent color coding across all connections.

Maintenance Features:

Installation Guidelines:

DO NOT: Cover the vents, install into a sealed wall, or install into an area without adequate air ventilation. Proper ventilation is essential to prevent overheating.
The units can be mounted to a wall or table using the included wall/table mount ears. Side screws must be removed from the case for bracket installation.

Firmware Updates:

The firmware is field-updatable via the Mini-B USB port on both the TX and RX units, ensuring the system can be kept up-to-date with the latest features and bug fixes. Users should check the Atlona website for the most recent firmware updates and manuals.

Safety Information:
