This document describes the AVPro Edge AC-EX70-UHD-KIT, an ultra-slim HDBaseT extender set designed for long-distance HDMI signal transmission with bi-directional power and EDID management.

Function Description

The AC-EX70-UHD-KIT is a cost-effective, state-of-the-art, and reliable single CAT extender capable of transmitting HDMI signals up to 70 meters. It addresses the need for distributing high-value 4K UHD content in both commercial and residential environments. The kit allows for affordable and reliable HDMI extension, even with the ability to cascade extenders. It is suitable for UHD/HD uncompressed distribution in various settings, including residential digital entertainment centers, retail stores, AV events requiring reliable long-distance distribution, data centers, control rooms, conference rooms, schools, and corporate training environments.

Usage Features

HDMI 2.0 and EDID Management: The kit supports HDMI 2.0 and includes robust EDID management capabilities, allowing users to configure EDID settings via DIP switches on the transmitter. Default is "BYPASS (HDBT)" mode, passing the connected display's EDID unaltered. Various preset EDID options are available for different resolutions and audio configurations, including 1080P, 4K30Hz, and 4K60Hz with HDR and SDR support. A "USER EDID COPY/STORE" option allows copying the downstream EDID from the connected sink device.

4K and HDR Support: It handles 4K60 4:2:0 and 4K30 4:4:4 signals, with HDR support up to 4:2:2 12 Bit.

Ultra Slim Design: The units feature an ultra-slim profile of 0.47 inches (12mm).

3D and HDCP Support: Supports 3D content and is compatible with HDCP 2.3 and earlier versions.

CEC Pass Through: Allows Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) signals to pass through the extender.

Power Over HDBaseT (PoH): The system features 48V PoH, meaning only one power supply is needed at either the transmitter or receiver end. The kit automatically detects where the power supply is connected.

I-Pass Feature for Control Systems: Includes an "I-Pass" feature for control system pass-through, enabling IR signals from a control system to be sent down the category cable to control the display. The I-Pass port is an input, designed to connect directly to a control system via a 3.5mm mono cable.

Bi-Directional RS232 Transport: Supports bi-directional RS232 communication, with a switch to toggle between "PROGRAM" (firmware updating) and "NORMAL" modes. Both transmitter and receiver must be in "NORMAL" mode for signal pass-through.

IR Configuration: Features three different 3.5mm IR ports:

IR OUT: Designed to accept an IR Emitter, sending IR signals from the receiver to control the display.
IR IN: Designed to accept an IR Receiving Eye/Sensor, receiving IR signals from a remote control at the transmitter side.
I-PASS: A 3.5mm mono input for direct connection to a control system.

LED Indicators: Provides LED status, link, and power indication lights for troubleshooting:

POWER (Red, on HDBaseT RJ45 port): Indicates power connection. Solid ON means power is connected and functioning. OFF means no power.
STATUS (Blue, on HDMI Port): Indicates HDMI source connection. Solid ON means sync with HDMI source is correct and solid. Flashing means sync process is ongoing; continuous flashing may indicate no picture.
LINK (Green, above RJ45 HDBaseT Port): Indicates an intact HDBaseT link between Tx and Rx. Should always be solid. Flashing or absence indicates a link issue.
STATUS (Amber, above RJ45 HDBaseT Port): Indicates power presence between Tx and Rx. Blinks steadily when everything is OK.

ESD Protection: Built-in ESD protection circuitry (Inputs & Outputs) up to 7KV.

Cascading Capability: The extenders can be cascaded for further extension.

Mounting Brackets: Includes mounting brackets for installation.

Maintenance Features

Reliable Operation: To ensure reliable operation and user safety, specific instructions must be followed.

Power Supply: Use only the provided power supplies. If an alternative supply is necessary, verify voltage, polarity, and sufficient power output.

Environmental Conditions: Do not operate the products outside the specified temperature and humidity ranges. Ensure adequate ventilation for efficient operation.

Repair: Repairs should only be performed by qualified professionals due to sensitive internal components.

Environment: Use the product in a dry environment only. Prevent contact with liquids or harmful chemicals.

Cleaning: Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzene.

Damage Requiring Service: The unit requires service by qualified personnel if:

The DC power supply cord or AC adapter is damaged.
Objects or liquids have entered the unit.
The unit has been exposed to rain.
The unit does not operate normally or shows a marked change in performance.
The unit has been dropped or the housing is damaged.

Warranty: AVProEdge offers a 10-year warranty (Parts/Labor) from the date of original purchase. The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship and allows for repair or replacement with new or refurbished parts at AVProEdge's discretion. The warranty is extended only to the original purchaser for products purchased as new, requiring a purchase receipt or proof of date. This warranty applies to products purchased directly from AVPro or an authorized dealer and does not cover misuse, accidental damage, modification, improper installation, unauthorized repairs, or use outside the intended application.
