TheIRcutlterpreventsinfrared(IR)lightfromreachingtheimagesensor.Inpoorlightingconditions,forexampleatnight,or
whenusinganIRlamp,settheIRcutltertoOff.Thisincreaseslightsensitivityandallowstheproductto“see”infraredlight.The
imageisshowninblackandwhitewhentheIRcutlterisoff.
IfusingautomaticExposurecontrol,settheIRcutltertoAutotoautomaticallyswitchbetweenOnandOffaccordingtothe
lightingconditions.
WhiteBalance
Whitebalanceisusedtomakecolorsintheimageappearthesameregardlessofthecolortemperatureofthelightsource.TheAxis
productcanbesettoautomaticallyidentifythelightsourceandcompensateforitscolor.Alternatively,selectthetypeoflight
sourcefromthedrop-downlist.Foradescriptionofeachavailablesetting,seetheonlinehelp
.
WideDynamicRange
Widedynamicrange(DynamicContrast)canimprovetheexposurewhenthereisaconsiderablecontrastbetweenlightanddark
areasintheimage.EnableWDRinintensebacklightconditions.DisableWDRinlowlightconditionsforoptimalexposure.

Thissettingisonlypossiblewhenusingautomaticexposurecontrol.
ExposureSettings
Conguretheexposuresettingstosuittheimagequalityrequirementsinrelationtolighting,framerateandbandwidth
considerations.
SelectEnableBacklightcompensationifabrightspotoflight,forexamplealightbulb,causesotherareasintheimagetoappear
toodark.
TheExposurecontrolsettingisusedtoadapttotheamountoflightused.Selectoneofthefollowingmodes:
•Autoisthedefaultsettingsandcanbeusedinmostsituations.Shutterspeed,IrisandGainareautomaticallysetto
produceoptimumimageappearancefordifferentlightingsituations.
•ManualShutterallowsyoutomanuallyadjusttheshutterspeed.IrisandGainaresetautomatically.
•ManualIrisallowsyoutomanuallyadjusttheirisopeninginthelens.ShutterspeedandGainaresetautomatically.
•ManualallowsyoutomanuallyadjustShutterspeed,IrisandGain.
Shutterspeed-Aslowerspeedindarkconditionswillhelptoproduceabrighterimage,butwillproducefewerframespersecond,
whichmaycauseblurryimagesduringmotion.
Iris-AlargerF-valuemeanslesslightsensitivity,butalargerdepthofeld.
Gain-Measuredindecibels(dB),gaindescribestheamountofamplicationappliedtoasignal,inthiscasethevisualinformation
intheimage.Ahighlevelofamplicationmayprovideabetterimageinverylowlightsituations.Ahighgainwillalsoincrease
theamountofimagenoise.
Maxexposuretime-Increasingtheexposuretimewillimproveimagequality,butdecreasetheframerate.Theremayalsobe
anincreaseinmotionblur.
Maxgain-MaxgainlimitstheamountofgainthatcanbeappliedtotheimageinExposurecontrolmodeswithautomatic
gainadjustment.
Exposurezones-Thissettingsdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto
settingcanbeused.Forparticularrequirement,selectapredenedarea.
