How to fix a Backyard GBT1321WRS burner that won't light with ignitor?
    • K
      kristenmooreAug 16, 2025
If the burner on your Backyard Grill won't light with the ignitor, several factors could be at play. First, ensure that your LP gas tank isn't low or empty, and replace it if necessary. Check for any LP gas leaks, and follow the leak checking instructions in your owner's manual. Cooking residue on the wires or electrode can also prevent ignition, so clean them with rubbing alcohol. If the electrode and burners are wet, wipe them dry with a cloth. For cracked or broken electrodes, or loose/disconnected wires, it is recommended to contact Customer Care at 1.800.762.1142 for assistance with replacement. Similarly, for shorting wires or a bad ignitor, reach out to Customer Care at 1.800.762.1142 for help replacing the ignitor wire/electrode assembly or the ignitor itself.

What to do if my Backyard Grill is having flare-ups?
    • R
      Robert LopezSep 12, 2025
Flare-ups on your Backyard Grill can happen due to grease buildup. To resolve this, remove and thoroughly clean all grill parts following the “Cleaning and Care” instructions in your owner’s manual. Another cause could be excess fat in the meat you're grilling, so trim the fat before cooking. Finally, excessive cooking temperature can also lead to flare-ups; adjust the temperature to a lower setting.

Why won't my Backyard GBT1321WRS Grill burner light with a match?
    • S
      Scott KempAug 22, 2025
If the burner on your Backyard Grill won't light with a match, start by checking if there's gas flow. If the LP gas tank is empty, replace it. Also, make sure the coupling nut and regulator are fully connected by hand-tightening them, without using tools. Obstructions of gas flow can prevent lighting; refer to cleaning instructions on www.BlueRhino.com to clear burner tubes. Spider webs or insect nests in the venturi, or clogged burner ports can also be the reason. Refer to cleaning instructions on www.BlueRhino.com to clean venturi, burner tube and burner ports.

What to do if Backyard Grill has sudden drop in gas flow?
    • J
      James HarrisAug 26, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in your Backyard Grill could be due to a couple of reasons. First, check if you're out of gas and replace the LP gas tank if needed. Alternatively, the excess flow valve might have tripped, activating a safety device. To resolve this, turn the regulator/control knob to “OFF,” wait 30 seconds, and then try lighting the grill again. If the flames are still too low, reset the excessive flow safety device by turning the regulator/control knob “OFF,” removing the LP gas tank, waiting 1 minute, and then reattaching the LP gas tank. Perform a leak check and light the grill.

Why does the flame keep blowing out on my Backyard GBT1321WRS Grill?
    • M
      Melissa ParksAug 28, 2025
Flame blow out on your Backyard Grill may be caused by high or gusting winds; avoid using the grill in such conditions. Another reason could be low LP gas, so replace the LP gas tank. Finally, the excess flow valve might have tripped, activating a safety device; refer to “Sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height”.

Why is the flame yellow or orange on my Backyard GBT1321WRS Grill?
    • A
      alexandermitchellAug 31, 2025
If the flame on your Backyard Grill is yellow or orange, it could be due to several reasons. If it's a new burner, it may have residual manufacturing oils; burn the grill for 15 minutes on high with the lid closed. Spider webs or insect nests in the venturi can also cause this issue; clean the venturi. Food residue or grease can also be the cause, so clean the burner. Poor alignment of the valve to the burner venturi might be another reason; ensure the burner venturi is properly engaged with the valve.

    • E
      Erica GuzmanSep 12, 2025
