Color Bar Video Test Generator
The HD6 has a built in Color Bar Video Test Generator for use with in-system testing and troubleshooting of all
zone video outputs. When set to on, the HD6 sends NTSC color bars out the designated zone video output(s).
The color bar generator may be set on and off in Zones A-F in any combination. The color bar generator may
be set using IR Data or BKC-DIP RS-232 commands.
For use with IR Data, use the code-set (zone ID) of the desired zone to test and send MENU then 6 then 5 then
Right to turn on the color bar generator, send EXIT to turn off the generator. All Zones A-F may be simultane-
ously set on and off using the
WHOLE-HOUSE code-set 0 0 0.
IR Data Color Bar Generation examples:
Using code-set 0 0 0 WHOLE-HOUSE
send MENU then 6 then 5 then Right to set the color bar generator on in all Zones A-F.
send EXIT to set the color bar generator off in all Zones A-F.
Using code-set 0 1 1
send MENU then 6 then 5 then Right to set the color bar generator on in Zone A (default is zone 11).
send EXIT to set the color bar generator off in Zone A (default is zone 11).
BKC-DIP RS-232 examples:
Color bar generation may be set using BKC-DIP eXecutive command 9.
send (FF,X,9,00=1;) to set the color bar generator on in all zones using WHOLE-HOUSE zone 0.
send (FF,X,9,00=0;) to set the color bar generator off in all zones using WHOLE-HOUSE zone 0.
send (FF,X,9,0B=1;) to set the color bar generator on in Zone A (default is zone 11).
send (FF,X,9,0B=0;) to set the color bar generator off in Zone A (default is zone 11).
Reset Unit to Factory Default
The HD6 allows the capability to be restored to a factory default configuration. Reset to factory default may be
set using IR Data or BKC-DIP RS-232 commands.
For use with IR Data, use any code-set (zone ID) currently set in the HD6 and send EXIT then MENU then 5
then RIGHT then RIGHT then ENTER.
Using code-set 0 0 0 WHOLE-HOUSE
send EXIT then MENU then 5 then RIGHT then RIGHT then ENTER to restore factory default settings.
For use with BKC-DIP RS-232:
Reset to factory default may be set using BKC-DIP eXecutive command 7.
send (FF,X,7;) to restore factory default settings.
Flash Memory Update and Upgrade
As new software improvements become available for the HD6, the Flash Memory Update feature allows the
HD6 operating system to be Updated using the rear panel ETHERNET port. In addition, the HD6 allows a
methodology to Upgrade the operating system for use with additional B&K software features. Visit
