How to troubleshoot a Barnes 3SE-L that will not run?
    • A
      Amy ParkerAug 1, 2025
If your Barnes Water Pump isn't running, start by checking all electrical connections to ensure they are secure. Also, inspect the fuse and breaker to see if they have blown or tripped. It's also possible that the power supply is not correct. If the current in the motor leads is within ±20% of locked rotor Amps, the impeller is likely locked. If the current reads 0, the overload might be tripped. Remove power and allow the pump to cool before rechecking the current.

Why won't my Barnes Water Pump turn off?
    • J
      Jessica FullerAug 5, 2025
Several factors can cause a Barnes Water Pump to keep running. The float movement might be restricted, or the switch may be defective. It could also be due to excessive inflow, the pump not being properly sized for the application, the pump being airlocked, or the H-O-A switch on the panel being in the “HAND” position.

What to do if my Barnes 3SE-L Water Pump delivers insufficient capacity?
    • K
      Kristin WongAug 9, 2025
Several factors may cause your Barnes Water Pump to deliver insufficient capacity. These include incorrect voltage, excessive inflow, the pump not being properly sized for the application, a restricted discharge, a check valve stuck closed or installed backwards, a closed shut-off valve, an impeller that is jammed, loose on the shaft, worn, or damaged, an impeller cavity or inlet that is plugged, the pump being airlocked, or the pump running backwards.

What causes a Barnes Water Pump to shut off and turn on by itself?
    • T
      Tina RogersAug 22, 2025
If your Barnes Water Pump shuts off and turns on independent of the switch, tripping the thermal overload protector, the possible causes are incorrect voltage, excessive inflow or the pump not being properly sized for the application, an impeller that is jammed, loose on the shaft, worn, or damaged, an impeller cavity or inlet that is plugged, or excessive water temperature.
  • E
    Erika FergusonAug 27, 2025
Why is my Barnes 3SE-L so noisy?
    • J
      Joseph HuntAug 27, 2025
If your Barnes Water Pump is operating noisily or vibrating excessively, it might be due to worn bearings, a bent motor shaft, debris in the impeller cavity, a broken impeller, the pump running backwards, or piping attachments to the building structure being too rigid or too loose.
