3 Connecting the Light and the Camera
To connect the camera to the Smart Vision Light:
1. Make sure, that all components are turned off when connecting the light to the camera and
to the power supply.
2. Connect the M8 connector end of the camera cable to the camera.
3. Connect the M12 connector end of the light cable to the Smart Vision Light.
4. Wire the cable ends of the light cable, the camera cable, and the power supply cable as
shown in the following image. This is one possibility.
The image above shows you a wiring example of how to connect the Basler ace 2 camera and a
Smart Vision Light. The example is set in a way so that you obtain the maximum illumination
intensity the light can continuously support without any restrictions.
The camera power supply depends on the camera model. The camera power supply can be
delivered via data cable or via AUX power. For information about the possibilities, refer to the
camera information in the Basler Product Documentation available at: docs.baslerweb.com.
Details:
Settings for the example shown in the image above (example 1):
Hardware: GPIO2
Software setting: Line 2
M8 connector: Pin 4
In the example, the camera uses the GPIO2 line to trigger the light. The camera is not powered
via AUX power. The GPIO2 line is connected to the NPN input of the light. The light is
triggered when the camera line 2 output is set to LOW.
The light is connected to the external 24 VDC power supply.
