How to Connect a Basler ace 2 Camera with a Smart Vision Light 4
Another possibility for triggering the light would be that you use GIPO3 instead of GPIO2.
You can wire the NPN trigger (pin number 2 of the light cable) to the GPIO3.
Settings for this case (example 2):
Hardware: GPIO3
Software setting: Line 3
M8 connector: Pin 2
It is possible to use the Smart Vision Light in overdrive
TM
strobe mode. In this mode the
illumination intensity is higher than in the example setup shown in the image above. For more
information see the “Overdrive
TM
Strobe Mode” section of the Smart Vision data sheet of the light
you use.
4 Camera Settings
To trigger the light when the camera’s exposure is active, configure the following camera settings
in the pylon Viewer > Digital I/O Control category:
The following settings are for the wiring example image above (example settings 1). If you want a
different setup, adapt the settings accordingly.
1. Set Line Selector = Line 2
2. Activate Line Inverter. This is needed due to the LOW level activated light.
3. Set Line Mode = Output
4. Set Line Source = Flash Window
As a result, the light will only flash when the camera exposure is active.
See the following image for details.
