Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive user manual for the Baumatic 60cm Freestanding Dishwasher models BDW603SS1 and BDW603W1, providing essential information for safe operation, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Baumatic 60cm Freestanding Dishwasher is designed for household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, residential environments, and bed and breakfast establishments. Its primary function is to efficiently clean dishes, cutlery, and cookware through various wash cycles. The appliance features a control panel for easy program selection and operation, and it utilizes a filtering system to remove food particles from the wash water, ensuring optimal cleaning performance. The dishwasher is equipped with upper and lower baskets, as well as a cutlery rack, designed for organized loading of different types of dishware.

Usage Features

Operation: To start, the appliance is switched on using the On/Off button. Detergent and rinse aid must be filled into their respective dispensers. Dishes are loaded into the baskets, ensuring proper placement for effective cleaning. A wash program is then selected using the Program button, and the cycle is initiated by pressing the Start/Pause button. The machine will begin working after approximately 10 seconds.

Program Selection: The dishwasher offers several wash programs, including Intensive, Heavy, ECO, 90 mins, Rapid, and Glass, each tailored for different soiling levels and types of dishware. Program indicators on the control panel light up to show the selected cycle.

Delay Start: A Delay button allows users to postpone the start of a wash cycle by 3, 6, or 9 hours, providing flexibility for scheduling.

Option Functions: The Option button enables selection of "Extra Drying" for enhanced drying performance, which involves an increased temperature during the final rinse, or "Power Wash" for stronger washing effect, suitable for heavily soiled dishes. Power Wash increases the wash and rinse process temperature by 3-5°C and adds an extra rinse cycle.

Adding Forgotten Dishes: If a dish is forgotten, it can be added to the dishwasher before the detergent cup opens. This involves pressing the Start/Pause button to pause the washing, opening the door slightly, waiting for the spray arms to stop, adding the dishes, closing the door, and pressing Start/Pause again to resume the cycle.

Changing a Program: A running cycle can be modified if it has been active for a short time. If the detergent has already been released or water drained, the detergent dispenser must be refilled. To change the program, press the Start/Pause button to enter standby, then press the Program button for more than 3 seconds to select a new cycle, and finally press Start/Pause to resume.

End of Cycle: At the end of a wash cycle, the dishwasher's buzzer will sound, and the appliance will automatically power off after 30 minutes if left in standby mode without operation. It is recommended to wait about 15 minutes before unloading to avoid scalding and breakage, and to allow for better drying. Unloading should start with the lower basket to prevent water from dripping onto lower dishes.

Loading Baskets: The upper basket is designed for delicate and lighter items like glasses, cups, and saucers, while the lower basket accommodates larger and more heavily soiled items such as pots, pans, and serving dishes. Items should be placed face downwards or aslant to allow water to run off. Cutlery should be placed in the cutlery rack, ensuring they do not nest together and sharp points are directed downwards or horizontally. The height of the upper basket can be adjusted to create more space for larger utensils. Folding spikes in the lower basket allow for better stacking of pots and pans.

Detergent and Rinse Aid: The dishwasher uses liquid rinse aids and specific dishwasher detergents. The rinse aid dispenser, located inside the door, should be refilled when the optical level indicator shows less than 1/4 full. The rinse aid dosage can be adjusted to prevent spots or streaks. Detergent should be added just before starting a wash cycle, with additional detergent for heavily soiled items placed in the pre-wash chamber. Only branded dishwasher-specific products should be used.

Maintenance Features

Filtering System: The dishwasher's filtering system, consisting of a coarse filter, a flat (main) filter, and a microfilter (fine) filter, prevents food remnants from entering the pump. For optimal performance, the filters must be cleaned regularly. This involves removing the filter assembly by turning it anti-clockwise and lifting it out, then rinsing the semicircular filter and cup under running water. The entire filter assembly should be cleaned once a week using a cleaning brush.

Caring for the Dishwasher: The control panel can be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth and dried thoroughly. For the exterior, an appliance polish wax can be used. Sharp objects, scouring pads, or harsh cleaners should be avoided. The door edges should be cleaned with a soft, warm, damp cloth, taking care not to use spray cleaners near the door lock and electrical components.

Cleaning Spray Arms: The spray arms should be cleaned regularly to prevent clogging from hard water chemicals. The upper spray arm is removed by rotating its nut clockwise, and the lower spray arm is pulled upward. Both arms should be washed in soapy, warm water and cleaned with a soft brush before being reinstalled.

Protect Against Freezing: In winter, frost protection measures are recommended. This includes cutting off electrical power, turning off the water supply, disconnecting the water inlet pipe, draining water from the inlet pipe and water valve, and removing the filter at the bottom of the tub to soak up any remaining water in the sump with a sponge.

Long-Term Storage: If the dishwasher will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to run an empty wash cycle, remove the plug, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly open to prevent moisture and odors.

Seals: Periodic cleaning of the door seals with a damp sponge helps prevent odors caused by trapped food.

Moving the Appliance: When moving the dishwasher, it should ideally be kept in a vertical position. If necessary, it can be positioned on its back.
