CONNECTION
OF
SPECIAL RESISTOR
a)
Insert
a 1
OHM,
10 watt
wire
wound
resistor
in
series between
the positive
battery
terminal
and all
connections
to
the
positive
battery terminal,
as illustrated
in
Figure
4-2.
This resistor
will
be
used
to drop the excess
voltage
while
overvoltage
adjustments
are
being
made,
b)
With
engine
running,
monitor
the
buss
voltage
with the
voltmeter,
c)
Remove
the
white dust cover
from the "regulator"
adjustment
hole on the finned surface of
the
regulator,
d)
Insert screwdriver
and
adjust
slowly
until the voltmeter
reads
32
volts ±1.0
volt.
If
the overvoltage
relay
trips
(meter
reads
battery voltage
and overvoltage
warning
light
comes on) within ±1.0 volt of 32
volts,
the
overvoltage
circuit
is properly adjusted.
Reset
output voltage to 28.5
±0.25 volts
as
previously described
(first
reset overvoltage circuit by
momentarily
disconnecting
entire
regulator
unit.)
e)
If
the overvoltage
relay
dces not
trip
at 32 volts
±
1.0
volt,
remove
the
white
dust cover from "overvoltage" adjustment
hole ("O.V.") on
the
finned
surface
of the regulator,
(See
Figure
4-1)
insert screwdriver and turn control
