SCOPE
The
material
in
this
manual
is arranged to
give complete
and
progressive
coverage on the
Model
20138 Voltage
Regulator.
The
early
sections include
information
on
equipment
characteristics,
specifications,
installation
instructions and
operational
checkout
procedures. Later
sections cover
the
theory
of operation,
adjustment
and
maintenance,
disassembly
instructions and complete
schematic
drawings
and parts list.
Specific
instructions are
given for
adjusting the regulator
in
the aircraft. This section includes a list of
recommended
test
equipment
and information
on precautions to be
taken when
adjusting the
regulator.

EQUIPMENT
DESCRIPTION
The
Model
20138 voltage
regulator is designed
to operate in
conjunction with two paralleled aircraft
alternators
having a
nominal
output
of28.50
voltsD.C.
The
unit is capable
of
maintaining the
output
voltage
within
±0,25
volts with changes in load current from 0 to
60 amps.
The
voltage
regulator
features all
silicon semiconductors
for
long life and
dependability. The
unit
incorporates a
built-in
overvoltage
protection
circuit
and a
specially
designed connector arrangement that
provides
a
wide
choice of
equipment
operational
modes.
The unit is
housed
in a
die-cast
aluminum
case that
can be taken apart
to give access
to the
voltage regulator components.
Control adjustments
can be easily
made
through the case
with
the
equipment
installed in the aircraft,
