Overview

This document serves as a user manual for a Beko Refrigerator, covering models CFP1691W, CFP1691B, CFP3691VB, CRFP3691VG, and CFP3691VW. It provides essential information for safe operation, installation, usage, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description

The Beko Refrigerator is designed for the storage and freezing of edible foodstuffs. It features a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment. The appliance utilizes non-CFC/HFC natural substances (R600a) in its cooling system and cyclopentane in its insulation, making it environmentally friendly.

Key components of the refrigerator include:

  • Adjustable door shelves: For flexible storage of items in the door.
  • Egg section: A dedicated area for storing eggs.
  • Bottle shelf: Designed to hold bottles securely.
  • Adjustable front feet: For leveling the appliance.
  • Freezing and Storage compartment: Located lower down, this section is for freezing fresh food and storing frozen items.
  • Vegetable compartment: A dedicated drawer for keeping vegetables fresh.
  • Chiller compartment: For items requiring colder temperatures than the main fridge.
  • Adjustable shelves: Allowing customization of storage space within the main compartment.
  • Wine rack: A specialized rack for storing wine bottles.
  • Thermostat knob: For controlling the internal temperature.

Some models may also include Blue light/HarvestFresh technology in the crispers. This feature illuminates fruits and vegetables with blue, green, red lights, and dark cycles to simulate a day cycle, promoting photosynthesis and preserving vitamin content for a longer time. If the refrigerator door is opened during the dark period of HarvestFresh, the system automatically detects this and enables blue-green or red light for user convenience.

The freezer compartment is equipped with a Freezer Guard feature, ensuring that frozen food will not defrost even if the ambient temperature drops as low as -15 °C. This makes the appliance suitable for installation in garages or unheated rooms without concern for food spoilage.

Usage Features

Before Operating: Before initial use, ensure the appliance is freestanding (not built-in), the feet are adjusted for leveling, the interior is dry, and air circulates freely at the rear. The interior should be cleaned as recommended in the "Maintenance and cleaning" section. Once plugged in, the fridge interior light will illuminate when the door is open. A normal noise will be heard as the compressor starts. The front edges of the cabinet may feel warm, which is normal and designed to prevent condensation. It is recommended to wait until the correct storage temperature is reached before loading food.

Temperature Control and Adjustment: The operating temperature is regulated by the thermostat knob. Numbers around the knob indicate cooling degrees, with "1" being the lowest cooling (warmest setting) and "5" being the highest cooling (coldest setting). The average fridge temperature should be around +5°C. The interior temperature is influenced by seasonal temperatures, frequency of door openings, food temperature when placed inside, and the refrigerator's location (e.g., exposure to sunlight). If the ambient temperature is higher than 25°C, turn the thermostat button to the maximum position. If lower than 25°C, turn it to the minimum position.

Storing Frozen Food: Prepacked commercially frozen food should be stored according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place packets in the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase, ensure they are labeled and dated, and do not exceed "Use By" dates. In case of a power failure, avoid opening the door; frozen food should remain unaffected for up to 21 hours.

Freezing Fresh Food: To achieve the best results, do not freeze large quantities at once. Food quality is best preserved when frozen quickly. Do not exceed the appliance's freezing capacity (5 kg in 24 hours). When freezing fresh food, turn the control toward MAX. Small quantities (up to 1/2 kg) can be frozen without adjusting the temperature control. Avoid mixing already frozen food with fresh food.

Making Ice Cubes: Fill the ice-cube tray 3/4 full with water and place it in the Ice Bank. Use a spoon handle to loosen frozen trays; avoid sharp objects. Store ice cubes in the Ice Bank. Note that freshly made ice cubes will slowly reduce in size and disappear if not consumed for several weeks.

Defrosting:

  • Fridge Compartment: Defrosts automatically. Defrost water drains via a collection container at the back. Water droplets may form on the back wall, which is normal. Do not allow food to touch the back wall. If the drain tube becomes blocked, clear it by pushing the special plastic plunger provided. If frost reaches about 1/4" (7 mm), reduce the setting to restart automatic defrosting.
  • Freezer Compartment: Defrosts automatically. A fan circulates cold air; do not insert objects through the guard or allow children to play with the fan. Do not store inflammable propellant gas or explosive substances. Avoid covering shelves with materials that obstruct air circulation. Maximum frozen food storage volume is achieved by loading shelves without drawers (except the bottom drawer) and the upper shelf cover. Place foodstuffs on the top shelf for initial freezing.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Always switch off the appliance and unplug it before cleaning.
  • Do not use sharp abrasive instruments, soap, household cleaner, detergent, or wax polish.
  • Clean the cabinet with lukewarm water and wipe dry.
  • Clean the interior with a damp cloth wrung out in a solution of one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one pint of water, then wipe dry.
  • Ensure no water enters the lamp housing.
  • If the appliance will not be used for a long period, switch it off, remove all food, clean it, and leave the door ajar.
  • Remove dust from the condenser (at the back of the appliance) annually with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Regularly check door seals for cleanliness and absence of food particles.
  • To remove door racks, empty them and push them upwards from the base.
  • To remove a freezer drawer, pull it out as far as possible, tilt it upwards, and then pull it out completely.
  • Ensure the special plastic container (drain tray) at the back, which collects defrost water, is clean. To clean it, switch off, unplug, push the lug down with a screwdriver, pull out, clean, and reassemble.
  • Avoid spillage of small food items (rice, peas, beans) through the fan guard, as this can block the cooling system.
  • Never use cleaning agents or water containing chlorine on outer surfaces or chromium-coated parts, as chlorine causes corrosion.

Changing the Illumination Lamp: To change the Bulb/LED, contact an Authorized Service agent. The lamps are designed for illuminating the refrigerator/freezer contents, not for household room illumination, and are built to withstand extreme temperatures.

Installation Instructions:

  • Fit the two plastic wall spacers onto the condenser at the back by rotating 1/4 turn.
  • Place the appliance on a smooth surface.
  • Adjust the two front feet by turning clockwise or anti-clockwise until they firmly contact the floor, preventing vibration and noise.
  • The mains plug is stored in a receptacle at the back during transit; gently remove it. Do not pull the mains cord.
  • Ensure the space in the room is not smaller than 10 cubic meters.
  • Allow at least 5 cm clearance between the product and the ceiling, rear wall, and side walls for adequate air circulation. If placed in an alcove, maintain these clearances.
  • If the rear wall clearance protection component is present, ensure it is in place. If not, or if lost, position the product to maintain at least 5 cm clearance from the rear wall.

Transportation Instructions:

  • Transport the appliance only in a vertical upright position, with intact packing.
  • If transported horizontally, lay it on its right-hand side (when facing the front). After returning to an upright position, wait at least 4 hours before operating to allow compressor oil to settle.
  • Protect the appliance from rain, moisture, and other atmospheric influences.
  • Do not move the appliance by pulling the door or handle.
  • Empty any water from the drain tray before moving.
  • Ensure the defrost water pipe at the back is fixed to the plastic evaporating pan on top of the compressor to prevent water spillage.
  • Be careful when cleaning/carrying the appliance to avoid touching the bottom of the condenser metal wires, as this can cause injury.
  • This appliance is not designed for stacking.
  • Do not sit or stand on the appliance.
  • Ensure the mains cable is not caught under the appliance during or after moving.
  • Do not allow children to play with the appliance or tamper with controls.
