10.6 ADJUST STEPPER / CO
This operation must be carried out also using an exhaust gases analyser.
The process is repetitive, arriving at the CO wanted by repeating the procedure
described below.
1. Carry out the procedure described for self-diagnosis.
2. Go to the "ENGINEERING PARAMETERS" page(icon C°....)
3. Look for the "STEPPER POSITION" item with the horizontal arrows (if not
already present on the display).
4. Press “ENTER” to see the parameter value (this parameter, with the engine
running at minimum and at 85-90°C working temperature, must be around 30-
40 steps)
5. Go to the ADJUSTMENTS page (icon screwdriver and hammer)
6. Using the vertical arrows position yourself on the FUEL ADJUSTMENT AT
MINIMUM" line
7. Press “ENTER”
8. Start the engine, keep it at minimum and connect the exhaust gases analyser
9. A percentage value will be seen that is possible to modify with the vertical
arrows
10. Increase or diminish this procedure according to whether you want to thin or
thicken the fuel
11. Go to the "ENGINEERING PARAMETERS" page(icon C°....)
NOTE: it is important, in order to have a correct reading of the CO, that the position
of the stepper is at a value of about 30-40 steps as, acting on the "FUEL
ADJUSTMENT AT MINIMUM" value, this parameter is modified automatically (this
parameter with the engine running is in continuous correction, and it is very difficult
to read a fixed value equal to 30-40 steps. It is therefore sufficient that the
fluctuations are around this value).
A way of finding the exact position of the stepper is to step slightly on the accelerator
and read the value at the instant in which the engine goes back to the minimum.
12. Select the “STEPPER POSITION” item
13. In the case of the value being very far off (attention, fluctuations of 4 or 5 steps
are normal) it needs to be corrected
14. To correct the stepper position, return to the "ADJUSTMENTS" page (icon
screwdriver and hammer)
15. Using the vertical arrows position yourself on the "Stepper manual" line
16. Press “ENTER”
17. From the present reading value, increase or decrease using the vertical arrows
according to whether you want to add or remove steps from the stepper position
18. Press “ENTER”
19. Read the CO value of the exhaust gases analyser (it should be equal to (1-1.5)
20. In the case where the CO value is not that desired, repeat the operation from
point 5.
