Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions for assembling and maintaining Budget Apex Range buildings, specifically covering the 20 Windowless Rustic Overlap and 300 Windowless Tongue & Groove ranges. These instructions are applicable to multiple sizes, including 4x6, 8x6, and 12x6 6ft gable models.

Function Description:

The Budget Apex Range buildings are designed as garden sheds, providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor storage solution. They are intended for domestic use only. The instructions guide users through the entire assembly process, from preparing the base to fixing the roof felt and applying protective treatment.

Important Technical Specifications:

The sheds are available in two main ranges:

  • 20 Windowless Rustic Overlap: This range features an overlap cladding style, where boards overlap each other, creating a rustic appearance. This style is known for its traditional look and ease of replacement for individual boards.
  • 300 Windowless Tongue & Groove: This range utilizes a tongue and groove cladding style, where boards interlock tightly, offering superior strength, weather resistance, and a smooth, modern finish.

Multiple sizes are covered, specifically 4x6, 8x6, and 12x6 models with a 6ft gable. The floor sections come in two types: 14589-Assembled-SS-Floor-W(1812mm)xD(4ft/1172mm) and 14601-Assembled-TG-Floor-W(1812mm)xD(4ft/1172mm). Roof sheets are typically 1172mm wide. Roof felt is supplied in rolls, and for 6ft gables, three pieces of felt are required, each being the length of the roof plus 140mm. Various screws and nails are used for assembly, including S50 screws, N30 nails, T8 tacks for sand felt, and T10 tacks for mineral felt. Fascia boards are 1079mm long.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly Process: The manual outlines a step-by-step assembly process, starting with laying floor sections, fixing wall panels, installing roof trusses, positioning roof sheets, and finally applying roof felt and fascia boards.
  • Door Customization: The door hinges can be swapped to allow the door to open on the opposite side, offering flexibility in placement and access.
  • Base Requirement: A firm, level base is crucial for the building's stability and longevity. The instructions emphasize the importance of preparing a concrete or paving slab base that is slightly larger than the building's footprint.
  • Warranty Maintenance: To maintain the warranty, the building must be covered with sand or mineral felt. Additionally, the building must be treated with a suitable wood preservative immediately after assembly and annually thereafter.

Maintenance Features:

  • Wood Treatment: Regular treatment with a high-quality wood preservative is essential to protect the timber from rot, decay, and insect attack. This must be done immediately after assembly and annually.
  • Roof Felt Inspection: Periodically check the roof felt for damage and repair or replace as necessary to prevent water ingress.
  • Base Maintenance: Ensure the base remains level and free from moisture penetration.
  • Window Maintenance (if applicable): Although these specific models are windowless, general advice for other ranges includes checking windows for leaks and ensuring they are sealed properly.
  • Door Maintenance: Lubricate hinges and check for proper alignment to prevent sticking.
  • General Checks: Regularly inspect the building for any signs of damage, loose fixings, or structural issues. Address any problems promptly to maintain the building's integrity and warranty.
  • Product Support: For queries and help, customers can contact product support at 01636 858 377. Spare parts can also be ordered through customer services.

Important Safety Notices:

  • Always read instructions thoroughly before starting assembly.
  • Ensure the building is constructed on a firm, level base.
  • Do not modify the building as this may void the warranty.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear during assembly.
  • Be aware of sharp edges and splinters when handling timber.
  • Use appropriate tools and ensure they are in good working order.
  • Two people are recommended for certain assembly stages, especially when positioning roof sheets, to ensure rigidity and safety.
  • The building must be covered with sand or mineral felt to maintain the warranty.
