Overview

The provided manual outlines troubleshooting steps for a "Deep Clean Essential" machine, likely a carpet cleaner or similar floor cleaning device, with model numbers 9585 1210 8852. The primary focus of the document is to address issues related to the machine's spray function, both to the floor and through an accessory hose.

Function Description:

The Deep Clean Essential machine is designed for deep cleaning, primarily of floors and potentially upholstery or other surfaces via an accessory hose. Its core function involves spraying a cleaning solution, likely a mixture of water and a specialized formula, onto the surface to be cleaned. The machine then presumably extracts the dirty solution, though this extraction function is not explicitly detailed in the provided troubleshooting guide. The emphasis on "Deep Clean Essential" suggests it's intended for thorough cleaning rather than light surface maintenance.

Important Technical Specifications (Inferred):

While specific technical specifications like motor wattage, tank capacity, or pump pressure are not explicitly stated, several components and operational aspects can be inferred:

  • Pump System: The machine incorporates a pump responsible for delivering the cleaning solution. The troubleshooting steps mention "PUMP-TO-MOTOR BELT" and "MACHINE LOST PRIME," indicating a pump-driven system.
  • Motor: A motor drives the pump, as evidenced by the "PUMP-TO-MOTOR BELT."
  • Water Tanks: The machine has at least one "CLEAN WATER TANK" and a "BOTTOM TANK." The clean water tank holds the cleaning solution, which consists of a "recommended BISSELL formula" and "hot tap water." The "heavy duty bladder" is mentioned as part of the clean water tank, suggesting a bladder-in-tank design where the cleaning solution is contained within a flexible bladder, possibly to maintain separation from the dirty water or to aid in pressure delivery.
  • Spray Mechanism: The machine features a spray mechanism that delivers solution to the floor. It also has an accessory hose with a "tool" at its end, which includes a "spray-tip" for targeted cleaning.
  • Internal Water Supply Hose: An "internal water supply hose" is present within the accessory hose, responsible for carrying the cleaning solution to the spray-tip.
  • Valve System: A "valve on the underside of the tank" connects into an "inlet on the base," indicating a mechanism for the cleaning solution to flow from the tank to the pump system when the tank is properly seated.
  • Handle: The machine has a handle that can be "reclined" and "re-attached," suggesting it's a upright cleaner where the handle is integral to its operation and can be adjusted or removed for maintenance/storage.

Usage Features:

  • Formula Usage: The machine is designed to be used with "genuine BISSELL formulas." The manual explicitly warns against using "other formulas" as they "may damage the machine and void the warranty," highlighting the importance of using compatible cleaning agents. A "measuring cup" is included for accurate formula dosage.
  • Hot Water Application: The cleaning solution is prepared with "hot tap water," indicating that heat is a component of the cleaning process, likely to improve cleaning efficacy.
  • Tank Attachment: The "Tank Lid" must be "properly attached to Bottom" and the "Tank" must be "properly set onto the base of the unit" for correct operation. This emphasizes a secure connection for the water flow system. The tank can be lifted by a "carry handle" when properly assembled.
  • Accessory Hose Usage: The machine includes an accessory hose with a "tool" for targeted cleaning. This allows for cleaning areas beyond the main floor path, such as upholstery, stairs, or tight spaces.
  • Trigger Operation: The machine is operated using a "trigger," which initiates the spray function.
  • Power Cycle: Troubleshooting involves turning "power off and back on" and waiting "one minute" before depressing the trigger, suggesting a reset procedure for certain operational issues.

Maintenance Features:

  • Belt Replacement: The "PUMP-TO-MOTOR BELT" is a replaceable component. If it's "broken," the pump will not work, and it needs to be replaced.
  • Spray-Tip Cleaning: The "spray-tip on the tool" (of the accessory hose) can become "clogged." Users are advised to "try cleaning out the spray-tip on the tool with a paper clip." If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, the "tool may require replacement."
  • Hose Kink Release: The "internal water supply hose" within the accessory hose can develop "kinks." Users are instructed to "Stretch the hose out and give it a few light tugs to release any kinks."
  • Handle Re-attachment: In cases where other troubleshooting steps fail, users are advised to "remove the handle completely and re-attach," suggesting a modular design that allows for user-level reassembly of major components.
  • Professional Servicing: For persistent issues, especially if the machine "still no spray," users are directed to take the machine to an "AUTHORIZED Service Center." If the machine is "under warranty" and a service center is "too far away," an "RA" (Return Authorization) may be issued, indicating a process for warranty claims and potential replacements. This highlights that while some maintenance is user-serviceable, complex repairs require professional attention.
  • Prime Restoration: The troubleshooting mentions "MACHINE LOST PRIME," which refers to the pump losing its ability to draw fluid. The suggested fix is a power cycle, implying a self-priming or easily restorable pump system.
