When they have control of the extender, users at either station can force the
extender into Private Mode by pressing and holding the left [Ctrl] key on their
keyboard, pressing and releasing [Scroll Lock], and releasing left [Ctrl]. While the
extender’s in Private Mode, the triggering user will have exclusive control—locking
out the other station—and the Scroll Lock LED will flash on both the local and
remote keyboards. Other than this indication, the locked-out station is almost
completely disabled: The monitor goes blank and the keyboard and mouse stop
working. Private-Mode users must press and hold left [Ctrl], press and release
[Scroll Lock], and release left [Ctrl] again to exit Private Mode and re-enable the
other user station; when this is done, the extender also reinitializes the keyboard
and mouse at the station that was in Private Mode. (To reset the local keyboard
and mouse without going into Private Mode, use the keystroke sequence described
in Section 7.2.)
