Why is espresso just dripping from my Breville BES920 Coffee Maker?

  If espresso is dripping from the portafilter spouts of your Breville Coffee Maker, it might be because the coffee is ground too finely. Try using a slightly coarser grind. Alternatively, there may be too much coffee in the filter basket; lower the dose of coffee using the RAZOR™ dosing tool. Also, the filter basket may be blocked. Use the fine pin on the provided cleaning tool to clear the outlet hole(s) on the underside of the filter basket. If it continues to be blocked, dissolve a cleaning tablet in hot water and soak filter basket and portafilter in the solution for approx. 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

  If your coffee isn't hot enough when using your Breville Coffee Maker, rinse your cups under the hot water outlet and place them on the cup warming tray to preheat them. If you're making a cappuccino or latte, heat the milk until the base of the jug becomes hot to the touch.

  If the pumps continue to operate, the steam is very wet, or the hot water outlet leaks on your Breville Coffee Maker, it may be due to using de-mineralized or distilled water, which affects how the machine is designed to function. It's recommended to use cold, filtered water instead of water with no or low mineral content. If the problem persists, contact Breville Customer Service Centre AUS 1300 139 798 NZ 0800 273 845.

Why is espresso running out around the portafilter of my Breville BES920?

  If espresso runs out around the edge of the portafilter or the portafilter comes out of the group head during extraction on your Breville Coffee Maker, make sure the portafilter is inserted correctly into the group head. Rotate it to the right until the handle is past the center and securely locked. Also, clean excess coffee from the rim of the filter basket to ensure a proper seal in the group head. Always ensure the filter basket and portafilter are dried thoroughly before filling with coffee, tamping, and inserting into the group head. If there is too much coffee in the filter basket, trim the coffee dose using the RAZOR™ dosing tool after tamping.

  If you're not getting any steam from your Breville Coffee Maker, the steam wand might be blocked. Try using the pin on the cleaning tool to clear the holes. If the steam wand continues to be blocked, remove the tip of the steam wand using the spanner in the cleaning tool and soak it in hot water.
