NOTE:
It can be easier to thread the needle if the
end of the thread is cut with a sharp pair
of scissors. Switch on the product when the
threading of the underthread and top thread
is nished. The product is now ready to use.
Automatic needle threading
This function is only available if the product has
an automatic needle threader.
1. Bring down the presser foot.
2. Bring up the needle.
FIG. 30

the eye of the needle.

hook (A).

NOTE:
The needle threader can be used with needle
sizes 11, 14 and 16.

ADJUSTING THE TENSION OF THE
TOP THREAD
Almost all sewing is done with the knob for
the top thread tension over the product set to
position 4.
Adjusting to a somewhat higher or lower
setting can make the sewing look better.
Correct tension.
1. Top
2. Bottom
FIG. 38
The top thread is too tight.
Reduce the tension.
FIG. 39
The top thread is too loose.
Increase the tension.
FIG. 40
Straight stitch
The quality of the sewing depends on whether
the top thread is correctly tensioned in relation
to the underthread. The tension is correct
when the two threads are locked in the middle
of the fabric being sown. The tension must
be adjusted if the stitches are uneven. First
check that the top thread and underthread are
correctly tensioned.
