Control Cable Installation
Shift Cable
Move the remote control handle to NEUTRAL.
Make sure gearcase is in NEUTRAL gear detent.
Remove cable retainer screw and plate.
Install the shift cable on the shift lever pin using
the flat washer and retainer clip supplied with the
outboard.
Pull end of cable to remove slack and adjust shift
cable trunnion nut to fit in anchor pocket.
Move remote control lever to FORWARD and
make sure propeller shaft is in gear. Do the same
in REVERSE.
Throttle Cable
Move the remote control handle from NEUTRAL
to the FORWARD detent, and then halfway back
to NEUTRAL.
Make sure the throttle lever is fully closed, as
shown. There should be some clearance between
the roller and throttle cam.
