may cause fuel spillage and damage the
capless fuel system. This could cause afire.
You or others could be badly burned and the
vehicle could be damaged.

eturn it to the storage location.
Filling aPortable Fuel Container

Never fill aportable fuel container while it

s in the vehicle. Static electricity discharge
from the container can ignite the fuel vapor.
You or others could be badly burned and
the vehicle could be damaged. To help avoid
injury to you and others:

Dispense fuel only into
approved containers.

o not fill acontainer while it is inside
a vehicle, in a vehicle's trunk, in a pickup
bed, or on any surface other than
the ground.

Bring the fill nozzle in contact with
the inside of the fill opening before
operating the nozzle. Maintain contact
until filling is complete.
•
Keep sparks, flames, and smoking
materials away from fuel.
•
Avoid using electronic devices while
pumping fuel.

dd-On Electrical Equipment

The Data Link Connector (DLC) is used for
v
ehicle service and Emission Inspection/
Maintenance testing. See Malfunction
Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) 389.
Adevice connected to the DLC — such
as an aftermarket fleet or driver-behavior
tracking device — may interfere with
vehicle systems. This could affect vehicle
operation and cause acrash. Such devices
may also access information stored in the
vehicle’s systems.
Caution
Some electrical equipment can damage the
vehicle or cause components to not work
and would not be covered by the vehicle
warranty. Always check with your dealer
before adding electrical equipment.
Add-on equipment can drain the vehicle's 12-
volt battery, even if the vehicle is not operating.
