CAE ULTRA-SHIFTER for HONDA Civic FK8 Type R
The shifter is intended for cars with complete interior equipment.
The center console must be removed and reinstalled for installation.
center console needs to be trimmed just minimally
Lubricate all moving parts regularly with good spray grease, e.g.
Lift the rubber caps on the ball heads.
We recommend Würth HHS 2000
To clean the aluminum parts, we recommend commercially available alcohol.
Never spray degreaser into the bearing
points, this will cause the bearings to seize
immediately
Removing the stock shifter:
• Remove the center console completely.
Shift the transmission into neutral
• Detach the shift cables from the balls and
the bulkhead. To release the cables from the
shifter housing, the pawl must be pushed
back, then turn the cables 90º and remove
them
Unscrew and remove the original shift lever

Ensure correct positioning of lugs on the shift cables for proper connection.

Securing the Shifter and Final Connections

Attaching Shifter to Base Bars

Place the CAE Shifter on the bars and screw it tight with the 4 nuts.

Greasing and Connecting Ball Pans

Grease ball pans and press onto gear lever and selector lever balls.

Important Assembly Notes

General advice on greasing, using adhesive, and avoiding bending cables.

Shifter Adjustment Procedures

Setting Neutral Position

Adjust shift lever to be inclined approx. 3-5° to the left for the middle (3/4) position.

Adjusting Lateral Play

Adjust spring stop to ensure equal lateral play on both sides when gears 3 or 4 are engaged.

Fine-Tuning Gear Engagement

Adjusting 1 st;2 nd Gear Stops

Adjust stop screw for clean engagement in 1st/2nd gear with minimal play.

Adjusting 5 th;6 th Gear Stops

Adjust stop screw for clean engagement in 5th/6th gear.

Adjusting Reverse Gear Stop

Adjust stop screw for proper engagement of reverse gear using the locking pin.

Final Checks and Testing

Securing Ball Sockets

Mount the cotter clips onto the ball sockets to secure them.

Driving Test and Adjustment

Check all functions during a driving test and make necessary adjustments to prevent damage.

Final Installation Steps

Reinstalling Center Console

Install the center console after the driving test, shortening a plastic tab if needed.
