Example: A non-RVSM compliant aircraft maintaining FL350 making an
initial call on a new frequency:
Pilot: (callsign) MAINTAINING FL350, NEGATIVE RVSM
1.7.2 During operations in, or vertical transit through, reduced vertical separation minimum
(RVSM) airspace with aircraft not approved for RVSM operations, pilots shall report
non-approved status at initial call on any channel within RVSM airspace.
1.7.3 Air traffic controllers shall explicitly acknowledge receipt of messages from aircraft
reporting RVSM non-approved status.
