Overview

The Caple C2237 is a classic single oven designed for household use, offering a range of cooking functions and user-friendly features. This appliance is intended for indoor use and is not designed for commercial purposes.

Function Description:

The oven provides various cooking functions to cater to different culinary needs. The "Light" function illuminates the internal oven, allowing users to monitor cooking progress. For traditional baking and roasting, the "Conventional Heat" function utilizes both upper and lower heating elements, making it ideal for joints, pastry, and cakes. The "Turbo Defrost" function circulates ambient air inside the oven to speed up defrosting times.

For versatile cooking, the "Fan Heat" function engages both the fan and the circular heating element, distributing hot air evenly throughout the oven. This function is suitable for cooking different types of food simultaneously, such as meat and fish, without intermingling tastes or smells, and is also effective for delicate pastries. The "Turbo Base Heat" function combines the fan with the lower heating element, circulating heat from the bottom, which is useful for sterilizing glass jars.

Grilling options include "Eco Grill," designed for grilling and gratinating small quantities of food with the oven door closed. The "Full Grill" function is for general grilling and gratinating, also requiring the oven door to be closed. For faster grilling and gratinating, the "Turbo Grill" function utilizes the grill elements with fan assistance, again with the door closed. Finally, the "Turbo Conventional Heat" function combines both top and bottom heating elements with the fan, ensuring more even heat distribution throughout the oven cavity.

Usage Features:

The oven is operated via a control panel featuring a function control knob, a temperature control knob, and touch control buttons for the electronic timer. A display screen shows the current time and timer settings, while a temperature indicator light signals when the oven has reached the selected temperature.

Before initial use, it is recommended to heat the empty oven at maximum temperature for one hour to eliminate any manufacturing residues and smells, ensuring the area is well-ventilated. During operation, both internal and external surfaces of the oven can become hot, so caution is advised, especially when opening the oven door, to avoid hot steam. Oven gloves should always be used when handling food inside the oven.

The electronic timer offers several useful functions. The "Countdown" feature allows users to set a specific time after which an acoustic signal will sound, without affecting oven operation. The "Cook Time" function enables setting the duration for which the oven will be in use, automatically switching off once the set time elapses. The "End Time" function allows users to program when the oven should switch off. These functions can be used individually or in combination, such as setting both "Cook Time" and "End Time" for automatic oven operation and shutdown. The oven will only operate once the time of day has been set.

Cooking guidelines provide approximate temperatures and times for various dishes, including sweets, meats, poultry, and game. It is advised to preheat the oven to the required temperature, indicated by the temperature light turning off. The drip tray should be removed for conventional cooking and roasting but kept in place for grilling to catch fat. When using fan heat, different foods can be cooked simultaneously, provided their respective cooking times are observed. For large frozen items, thorough thawing is recommended, and cooking times may need adjustment for stuffed meats or poultry, or for items cooked in foil or lidded casseroles.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for extending the life and ensuring the safety of the oven. Before any cleaning or maintenance, the oven must be switched off and isolated from the electrical supply. Harsh abrasive cleaners, sharp metal scrapers, or steam cleaners should not be used on any surface, especially the oven door glass, to prevent scratching or damage.

The internal and external surfaces of the oven should be cleaned with a damp cloth once the appliance has cooled down. All accessories can be washed in hot soapy water or a dishwasher. Condensation that may form during extended use should be dried with a soft cloth. The rubber seal around the oven opening should be regularly checked for condition and cleaned without abrasive products. If the seal is damaged, Caple Service should be contacted, and the oven should not be used until repaired. Aluminium foil should not be used to line the oven bottom, as this can affect cooking and damage the enamel.

The oven door is designed for easy removal to facilitate cleaning between the glass panes. This involves opening the door, lifting two levers, and then gently pulling the door out. The inner glass panels can also be removed for cleaning by pressing buttons on the sides of the door and carefully extracting the top rail and inner glass. Reassembly is the reverse of these steps.

Replacing the oven light requires disconnecting the appliance from the mains, unscrewing the glass cover, pulling out the old bulb, and inserting a new G9 halogen bulb (AC220V-240V, 25W). It is important not to touch the new bulb directly with bare hands.

For troubleshooting, common issues like the oven not operating, not heating, or the interior light not working are addressed with simple solutions such as checking the mains connection, thermostat setting, or replacing the bulb. For persistent problems, Caple Service should be contacted. Useful notes for baking provide hints for adjusting cooking conditions based on results, such as uneven browning or undercooked interiors, by modifying shelf position, temperature, or cooking time.
