SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Installing, starting up, and servicing air-conditioning equipment
can be hazardous due to system pressures, electrical components,
and equipment location.
Only trained, qualified installers and service mechanics should
install, start up, and service this equipment.
Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions,
such as cleaning coils. All other operations should be performed
by trained service personnel. Qualified installers and service tech-
nicians are required to have been trained on the following topics
when installing and servicing air-conditioning equipment with
A2L refrigerant such as R-32:
1. Explosive potential of A2L refrigerants
2. Potential ignition sources
3. Safety measures for unventilated and ventilated rooms or
enclosures
4. Refrigerant detectors
5. Concept of sealed components and sealed enclosures
according to IEC 60079-15:2010
6. Correct work procedures for the following:
a. Commissioning
b. Maintenance
c. Repair
d. Decommissioning
e. Disposal
Refer to Controls and Troubleshooting Guide for complete guide-
lines. When working on the equipment, observe precautions in the
literature and on tags, stickers, and labels attached to the
equipment.
1. Follow all safety codes.
2. Keep quenching cloth and fire extinguisher nearby when
brazing.
3. Wear safety glasses and work gloves.
4. Use care in handling, rigging, and setting bulky equipment.
It is important to recognize safety information. This is the safety-
alert symbol . When you see this symbol on the unit and in in-
structions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury.
Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION,
and NOTE. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol.
DANGER identifies the most serious hazards which will result in
severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies hazards
which could result in personal injury or death. CAUTION is used
to identify unsafe practices, which may result in minor personal
injury or product and property damage. NOTE is used to highlight
suggestions which will result in enhanced installation, reliability,
or operation.

30RC010-060 Air-Cooled Chillers
with Greenspeed Technology
Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the Carrier AquaSnap 30RC010 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Carrier AquaSnap® 30RC010-060 Air-Cooled Chillers with Greenspeed Technology are designed for outdoor installations and provide chilled liquid for various applications. These units are suitable for use with A2L refrigerants, specifically R-32, which requires adherence to specific safety guidelines due to its explosive potential and flammability.

Function Description:

These chillers are air-cooled liquid chillers that utilize Greenspeed Technology for enhanced efficiency. They are equipped with factory-installed strainers (including a blow-down valve) in the entering fluid piping and a flow switch in the leaving fluid piping. The flow switch wiring is factory installed. The units can be configured with various options, including different condenser coil types (MCHX or Al-Cu), single or dual hydronic pump packages, and digital compressors. They also offer sound options for low noise operation and compressor blankets. The control system, PIC6, can be integrated with Energy Management Modules (EMM), BACnet IP/MSTP, Ethernet, and remote connectivity for comprehensive control and monitoring.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Unit Sizes: 010-060, with varying capacities (e.g., 10 tons for 010, 30 tons for 060).
  • Voltage Options: 575-3-60, 380-3-60, 208/230-3-60, 460-3-60.
  • Refrigerant Type: R-32, EXV Controlled System.
  • Refrigerant Charge (MCHX Coil): Ranges from 7.50 lb (3.4 kg) for 010 to 28.00 lb (12.25 kg) for 060.
  • Refrigerant Charge (RTPF Coil): Ranges from 15.50 lb (8 kg) for 010 to 58.00 lb (24 kg) for 060.
  • Compressors: Scroll, Hermetic type, with 2 or 4 compressors depending on unit size. Speed is 3500 rpm (58.3 R/s).
  • Evaporator: Brazed, Direct-Expansion Plate Heat Exchanger.
  • Maximum Refrigerant Pressure: 710 psig (4481 kPa).
  • Maximum Water-Side Pressure: 300 psig (2068 kPa) without pump, 150 psig (1034 kPa) with pump.
  • Chilled Water Connections: 2-inch or 2.5-inch Victaulic (IPS Carbon Steel) for inlet and outlet.
  • Drain: 0.25-inch NPT.
  • Condenser Fans: Axial Vertical Discharge, Composite type. Fan speed is 850 rpm. Total airflow ranges from 9,400 cfm for 010 to 38,500 cfm for 060.
  • Hydronic Pump Package (Optional): Single or Dual, Centrifugal Monocell Pump(s), 3500 RPM. Expansion tank volume ranges from 4.4/3.2 gal (16.7/12.11 L) for 010-025 to 10.3/10.3 gal (38.9/38.9 L) for 030-060.
  • Minimum Circuit Amps (MCA) and Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOCP): Vary significantly based on unit size, voltage, compressor type (standard or digital), and pump options. For example, a 30RC010 standard compressor unit at 208/230V with no pump has an MCA of 51.7A and MOCP of 70A.
