Pre-trip Inspection
The pre-trip inspection is essential to ensure reliable operation of the Aspen APU. The Pre-trip Inspection
should be performed before operating the unit. These checks take only a few minutes.
Before Starting APU Engine After Starting APU Engine
Drain water from bottom of fuel tank
Visually check fuel lines and filters for leaks
Visually check engine and oil filter for leaks
Check air cleaner indicator (if equipped)
Visually check coolant hoses and radiator for leaks
Visually check exhaust system for leaks
Visually check condition of belts
Verify AI display, buttons, and knob function
Check battery cables for rubbing or chafing
Check operation in manual cool (ambient above 65°F)
Check truck battery terminals for cleanliness
Check operation in manual heat (ambient below 85°F)
Inspect block heater connector (if equipped)
Before Driving
Stow block heater connector if not in use
Secure APU cover latches and hand knob
