Summary

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

INTRODUCTION

RECEIVING AND INSTALLATION

Check Equipment

Verify unit model number and serial number against shipping papers.

Provide Unit Support

Install accessory roof curb or concrete pad for unit placement.

Provide Clearances

Ensure adequate ventilation and outdoor air by maintaining minimum service clearances.

RIG AND PLACE UNIT

Inspection

Visually inspect rigging components for damage or wear before initial use.

Rigging/Lifting of Unit

Use top skid as spreader bar, attach shackles to base rails, and ensure unit is lifted level.

SELECT AND INSTALL DUCTWORK

Configuring Units for Downflow Discharge

Steps for converting horizontal discharge units to downflow vertical discharge configurations.

PROVIDE FOR CONDENSATE DISPOSAL

INSTALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

High-Voltage Connections

Connect field-supplied disconnect switch and ensure proper grounding and wiring.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS - CONTROL VOLTAGE AND SPECIAL PROCEDURES

Control Voltage Connections

Use No. 18 AWG wires for thermostat connections, avoiding power-stealing types.

Special Procedures for 208-V Operation

Procedure to retap the transformer for 208 VAC primary voltage.

PRE-START-UP

Check for Refrigerant Leaks

Locate and repair leaks, then evacuate system to 500 microns.

Start-Up Adjustments

Complete pre-start procedures, do not jumper safety devices, and check compressor rotation.

CHECKING AND ADJUSTING REFRIGERANT CHARGE

Indoor Airflow and Airflow Adjustments

Ensure grilles are open, filters clean, and check system airflow if performance is suspected.

DEFROST CONTROL

Quiet Shift

Field-selectable mode to eliminate defrost cycle noise.

Defrost

Control initiates defrost based on time/temperature, with selectable intervals.

MAINTENANCE

Air Filter

Inspect and clean/replace air filters monthly or when clogged.

Indoor Blower and Motor

Clean accumulated dirt and grease from blower wheel and motor annually.

MAINTENANCE - COIL AND FAN CARE

Outdoor Coil, Indoor Coil, and Condensate Drain Pan

Inspect and clean coils and drain pan annually for obstructions and debris.

Outdoor Fan

Keep the outdoor fan free from obstructions to ensure proper cooling operation.

ELECTRICAL CONTROLS AND WIRING

REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT

PRESSURE SWITCHES

Loss of Charge Switch

Shuts off compressor during low suction pressures; check continuity.

High-Pressure Switch

Protects against excessive condenser coil pressure; opens at 650 psig.

REFRIGERANT SYSTEM

Refrigerant

System uses Puron (R-410A) refrigerant; higher pressures than R-22.

Compressor Oil

Uses 3MAF POE oil; absorbs moisture readily.

Servicing Systems on Roofs with Synthetic Materials

Precautions to protect roofing from POE oil exposure.

Liquid Line Filter Drier

Biflow filter drier must be replaced whenever the system is opened.

SYSTEM INFORMATION

Check Defrost Thermostat

Thermally actuated switch that senses outdoor coil temperature for defrost cycles.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Start-Up Checklist

A list of checks to perform before and during unit start-up.
