APPENDIX E — ACH580 BRANCH CIRCUIT PROTECTION
This appendix outlines the applicable fuses that can be used for
branch circuit protection for ACH580 drives. The drive
ACH580 has been tested by ABB in accordance with UL Stan-
dard 61800-5-1 on a circuit having available system fault cur-
rent of 100 kA maximum using fusing protection. See
Table AL for models that are applicable for Short Circuit Cur-
rent Rating (SCCR) protection.
To meet the SCCR Safety Requirements described in UL Standard
61800-5-1, it is recommended to utilize the fusing protection listed
in Table AM. The use of alternative electrical protection brands is
permissible only if the fuses are rated under UL Standards 248-8
(CLASS J) or 248-15 (CLASS T) and have been tested by ABB.

VFD FUSE BOX
For the VFD factory-installed option, fuses are integrated in the
VFD fuse box (Fig. W). For fuse selection, refer to Table AL.
VFD BYPASS BOX
For the VFD BYPASS factory installed option, fuses are integrat-
ed in the VFD BYPASS BOX supplied by ABB (Fig. Y). For fuse
selection, refer to Table AN.
