Hydraulicconnectionsrequireaminimumassemblytorqueinordertoprovidezeroleakageatratedpressurewith
adequatefatigueresistance.Over-torquingofahydraulicconnectioncanalsoleadtoleakageorfailure.Forsome
connections,CASEIHrequiresadifferenttorquevaluethanislistedintheISOandSAEstandards.

Thetorquevaluesinthisdocumentshouldbeusedwheneverpossibleorapplicable.

Tolerance
•
Thetoleranceforalltorquevaluesis±10%.Thistolerancemustincludeallassemblyvariation,notonlythetorque
wrenchrepeatability.
Lubrication
Applicationofgreaseorotherlubricantstohydraulicconnectorsshouldbeavoided.Ifcleanhydraulicoilisalready
ontheconnection,itisnotrequiredtoremovetheoil.Generally,applicationofgrease:
•
Maycauseasignicantchangeinthetorquerequiredtoproperlytightentheconnection.
•
Mayreducetheconnection’sresistancetovibration.
•
Excessivegreasemaydisplaceanelastomersealduringtightening.
•
Greaseextrusionwhenconnectionistightenedmaybemistakenforleakage.
CASEIHproductsgenerallyuseO-RingBoss(ORB)connectorsthathaveTeon™-coatedO-rings,eliminatingthe
needforO-ringlubricationduringinstallation.Forconnectionswhicharemadeintoaluminummanifoldsorwithstain-
lesssteelconnectors,itmayberequiredtoapplyalubricanttopreventgalling.
UseofLOCTITE®andotherthread-lockingcompoundsisprohibited.Thesecompounds:
•
Maycauseasignicantchangeinthetorquerequiredtoproperlytightentheconnections.
•
Reducetheserviceabilityofthejoint.
•
MaypreventtheO-ringfromproperlysealingifthecompoundgetsontheO-ring.
