(0.21in)±0.05mm(0.002in).ChecktoseeiftheDholeisinthewindowandthatthetimingpinwilllocktheywheel.
IftheDholeisnotcenteredinthewindowandtheywheelcannotbelocked:
1.Loosenthefourboltsthatretainthecamshaftgear.
2.RotatetheywheeluntiltheDholeisinthetimingwindowandtheywheelcanbelocked.
3.Tightenthefourboltsthatholdthecamshaftgeartothecamshaft.
Now,verifythetimingbyturningtheengineclockwise10–20°andthenbackcounterclockwiseuntiltheDholeisin
thetimingwindowandthetimingpinwilllocktheywheel.Verifythereadingonthedialindicatoris5.29mm(0.21in)
±0.05mm(0.002in).
NOTE:Forengineswithoutanenginebrakeengineserialnumbers25342andafter,setbacklashtouse4.70mm
(0.19in).

Repeattheaboveprocedureifnecessarytoobtainthespeciedtiming.Oncetimingiswithinthespeciedrange
tightenthecamshaftgearretainingbolttospeciedtorque.

armat54°beforeT opDeadCenter(TDC)1and6,whichistheDholeontheywheel,visiblethroughtheholeinthe
bottomofthebellhousing.
