3. The input shaft, 1, may stay in the gearbox, or
come out with the cover; slide the shaft out of
either component. Disassemble the input shaft by
pressing the gear, 2, and outer bearing cone off of
the shaft; use a split bearing puller to aid in
pressing off the inner bearing, 3. Drive the bearing
cup and the seal out of the cover.
4. Drive the roll pin out of the output shaft, and
remove the special castellated nut. Slide the
pinion gear, 1, and bearing assembly up off the
shaft, and slide the output shaft out the bottom of
the gearbox. The shaft and pinion gear may be
further disassembled by removing the bearings.
5. Remove the bearing cups, seal and snap ring
from the gearbox housing.
NOTICE: It will be necessary to use a slide hammer
to remove the bearing cups from the housing.
