toitsplasticregionbytheturn-of-nutmethod.
Cylinderliner
Thecylinderlinerisselectedtomatchtheboreinnerdiameterofthecylinderblock.TheIDnumberisstampedon
theleftsideofthecylinder.
Piston
Thepistonsaremadeofanaluminumalloyanduseautothermaticpistonswithcaststruts.Thecombustionchamber
istheroundre-entranttype
Cylinderhead
Thecylinderheadsaremadeofcastironandeachcylinderhas4valves.Thecylinderheadboltsusetheangle
tighteningmethodtofurtherimprovereliabilityanddurability.
Crankshaft
Thecrankshaftusestufftridedsteel,andeachofthejournaldiametergradesaremarkedontheNo.1balanceweight.
EGRsystem
TheEGRsystemiscontrolledbytheenginecontrolmodule(ECM)basedonthecoolanttemperature,enginespeed
orengineload,andotherdata.Itpuriestheexhaustgasbyrecirculatingit.ThemaincomponentsaretheEGR
valve,EGRcooler,andsensors.
Connectingrodcapbolt
Theconnectingrodcapboltsusetheangletighteningmethodtofurtherimprovereliabilityanddurability.
Commonrail(fuelrail)typeelectroniccontrolinjectionsystem
Thecommonrailtypeelectroniccontrolinjectionsystemconsistsofthefuelsupplypump,whichsuppliesfuelatthe
targetpressurevaluesetforhigh-pressurefuel,thecommonrail,whichmeasuresthehigh-pressurefuel,andthe
fuelinjector,whichturnsthefuelintoanemistandinjectit.EachiscontrolledbytheECMbasedonsignals.The
injectiontimingandinjectionquantityarecontrolledaccordingtotheoperatingconditions.
Fuelinjector
Thefuelinjectoruses7-holenozzle.Thesolenoidvalveontheinjectorheadsectionopens/closestoadjustthe
injectionquantityandinjectiontiming.
TheECMcorrectsforvarianceinfuelinjectionquantitybetweenthefuelinjectorsaccordingtotheIDcodedatain
memory.Whenfuelinjectorsareadjusted,theIDcodedatamustbestoredintheECM.
Fuellterwithsedimenter
Thefuellterwithsedimenterusesthedifferenceinspecicgravitybetweendieselandwatertoremoveanywater
fromthefuel.Whenthelterllsupwithwater,anindicatornotiestheoperator.
