Operation 17
A. Description
Operation 17 consists of items to be inspected every 12 calendar months.
Inspection items are listed in order of the zone in which the inspection is to be performed. A descriptive
statement of the inspection requirement and the Inspection Item Code, for cross-reference to section
5-10-01
is
provided.
If a component or system is disturbed (due to maintenance being performed) after completion of
an initially required
operational or functional test, then
that specific test must be reconfirmed after
completion of any maintenance prior to returning the system or component to service. Refer to
the appropriate chapter in this Maintenance Manual for removal, installation, operational test and
functional
tests of components
and/or systems.
Refer to Chapter 6, Airplane Zoning - Description and Operation, for airplane zone definition.
The right portion of each page provides room for the mechanic's and inspector's initials and remarks.
These pages may be reproduced as a checklist in performing this inspection operation.
B. General Inspection Criteria
(1) During accomplishment of each of the specific inspections within this operation, additional
general inspections of the surrounding areas should be performed while access is available.
These general inspections are intended to detect obvious conditions which may warrant further
action.
(2) This operation
should be performed concurrently
with one of the operations, one through four,
which falls nearest to its due point.
