What to do if my Champion aXis CONTROLLER Portable Generator cranks but doesn't start?
    • S
      Savannah TurnerAug 11, 2025
If your Champion Portable Generator cranks but doesn't start, consider these possibilities: there may be an active fault code (identify and correct the fault code, then reset); the fuel valve is turned off (turn on the fuel supply); there is insufficient fuel pressure (perform a manometer check to confirm fuel pressure to the fuel regulator); the battery is weak (recharge or replace the battery); the oil level is low (check for oil leaks and add oil if necessary); or the spark plug wire is disconnected (connect the spark plug wire).

Why does my Champion aXis CONTROLLER Portable Generator HSB start and then suddenly stop?
    • M
      Margaret BakerAug 16, 2025
Your Champion Portable Generator HSB might start and then suddenly stop due to an active fault code (identify the fault code, correct it, and reset); insufficient fuel supply (perform a manometer check to confirm fuel pressure to the fuel regulator); low oil level (check for oil leaks and add oil if necessary); the generator being overloaded (turn off standby circuits for the house, reset the fault, and place the unit back into AUTO and ATS mode, then turn on standby circuits); or the engine experiencing a high/over temperature shutdown (check all intake and exhaust ventilation around the HSB, remove all debris, and let the HSB sit for 30 minutes to cool down).

How to fix a Champion aXis CONTROLLER engine that starts but runs rough?
    • W
      William ThorntonAug 23, 2025
If your Champion Portable Generator engine starts but runs rough, consider the following: insufficient fuel pressure (perform a manometer check to confirm fuel pressure to the fuel regulator); wrong fuel jets (check jets for NG or LPG, change to correct Master Mixer fuel jets); a faulty spark plug or loose spark plug wire (change the spark plug, set the gap, and connect the wire); a plugged air cleaner (clean or replace the air cleaner); or the generator being overloaded (remove one or more loads).

Why won't my Champion aXis CONTROLLER Portable Generator engine crank/turn over?
    • E
      Eric JohnsonAug 29, 2025
Your Champion Portable Generator engine might fail to crank or turn over due to several reasons: the HSB is in “OFF” mode (place the HSB controllers in the AUTO position); the battery is not connected, loose, or has corroded posts or wires (connect the batteries according to the owner’s manual, clean and tighten the battery connections); the battery is not charged or has a low charge (recharge or replace the battery); or there is an active fault code (identify the fault code, correct it, and reset).
