Why won't my Char-Broil Commercial 463257010 Grill burner light with the ignitor?
    • A
      Ann ScottJul 25, 2025
Several factors can prevent your Char-Broil grill burner from lighting with the ignitor. Ensure you're trying to light the correct burner as indicated on the control panel. Check that the burner is correctly engaged with the control valve, with valves positioned inside the burner tubes. Obstructions in the burner, such as spider webs, can also be a cause; clean the burner tubes if needed. Insufficient gas flow could be the issue; verify that the LP cylinder isn't empty. A vapor lock at the coupling nut might be present; try turning off the knobs, disconnecting, and reconnecting the coupling nut. Lastly, confirm the coupling nut and LP cylinder valve are fully connected, tightening it by hand until a solid stop.

What to do if the Char-Broil Grill ignitor has electrical issues?
    • D
      Daniel MillerAug 8, 2025
If your Char-Broil grill's ignitor is experiencing electrical problems, there are several potential solutions. First, check the electrode for cracks or breaks, indicated by sparks at the crack, and replace it if necessary. Ensure the electrode tip is correctly positioned, pointing toward the gas port opening on the burner at a distance of 1/8” to 1/4”, adjusting as needed. Clean any cooking residue from the wire or electrode using rubbing alcohol and a clean swab. Examine the wires for looseness or disconnections, reconnecting them or replacing the electrode/wire assembly if required. If wires are shorting (sparking) between the ignitor and electrode, replace the ignitor wire/electrode assembly. Finally, replace the battery with a new AA-size alkaline battery.
