How to fix sudden drop in gas flow in Char-Broil Grill?

  If you experience a sudden drop in gas flow or a low flame on your Char-Broil Grill, first check to ensure your LP cylinder isn't out of gas. If that's not the issue, the excess flow valve may have tripped. Try turning off the knobs, waiting 30 seconds, and then lighting the grill. If the flames are still low, turn off the knobs and the LP cylinder valve, disconnect the regulator, reconnect it, and perform a leak test. Then, turn on the LP cylinder valve, wait 30 seconds, and try lighting the grill again. Another potential cause is a vapor lock at the coupling nut/LP cylinder connection. To resolve this, turn off the knobs and LP cylinder valve, disconnect the coupling nut from the cylinder, reconnect it, and try again.

  If no sparks appear at any electrodes when the Electronic Ignition Button is pressed and you hear noise from the spark module of your Char-Broil Grill, the output lead connections may not be connected. Remove and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes.

  If no sparks appear at any electrodes when the Electronic Ignition Button is pressed and no noise can be heard from spark module on your Char-Broil Grill, the battery may not be installed properly. Install the battery, ensuring that the “+” and “–” connectors are oriented correctly, with “+” on the cap end. It could also be a dead battery. Replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. Additionally, the button assembly might not be installed properly. Unscrew the button cap assembly and reinstall it, making sure the threads are aligned and engaged fully. Finally, the spark module could be faulty, in which case you should replace the spark module assembly.

  Flare-ups on your Char-Broil Grill can be caused by grease buildup. To prevent this, clean the burners and the inside of the grill/firebox regularly. Another cause can be excessive fat in the meat. Trim the fat from the meat before grilling. Finally, excessive cooking temperature can cause flare-ups. Adjust the temperature accordingly to a lower setting.

Why are sparks weak on Char-Broil Charcoal/Gas Combo 1010?

  If sparks are present but not at all electrodes and/or not at full strength on your Char-Broil Grill, the output lead connections may not be connected. Remove and reconnect all output connections at the module and electrodes. Arcing to the grill away from the burner(s) may also be the cause. If possible, observe the grill in a dark location, operate the ignition system, and look for arcing between the output wires and the grill frame. A weak battery can also cause this issue. Replace the battery with a new alkaline battery. Wet electrodes can also prevent proper sparking; use a paper towel to remove moisture. Finally, cracked or broken electrodes can cause sparks at the crack. Replace cracked or broken electrodes.
