OPERATION
LUMBAR TRACTION TREATMENT PROCEDURE
1. Once patient is positioned and secured, turn the lock/unlock
handle to unlock the lumbar section of the table.
2. Give the patient the Patient Control Switch and instruct in its
use.
3. Use the Touchscreen Control Panel (TCP) to enter the desired
treatment protocol. Press the START icon when ready.
4. Adjust the position of the table as desired during treatment.
Move the table very slowly to patients tolerance. Once
traction treatment has started, DO NOT move the lumbar
section downward because the traction force will increase,
and it is possible to exceed the desired force. Also be aware
that slight force increases are possible when sidebending
and rotating the table; use caution during these movements.
See Annex for suggestions and precautions.
5. If Belts or Harnesses slip during treatment, press the STOP
icon on the TCP to stop treatment and carefully push the
lumbar section of the table until closed. There will be some
resistance - this is normal. Reposition and tighten the belts or
harnesses over the bare skin, making sure they fit as snugly
as possible without excessive discomfort. Restart and finish
treatment.
6. When the treatment is over, traction gently releases by itself.
Turn the lock/unlock handle to lock the lumbar section of
the table. Unfasten the belts and harnesses to release the
patient. If using the Thoracic and Pelvic Harnesses, loosen the
harness straps by lifting up on the ends of each buckle.
Release the buckles by squeezing the sides of the buckles.
Following a supine treatment the patient should slide their
heels toward their buttocks and move their knees from side
to side for about one minute before getting up. Following a
prone treatment the patient should move their hips from
side to side before getting up. Remember to assist the
patient to prevent falls.
Important Points: If the table reaches its full excursion (fully
opens) before maximum force has been reached, the force the
patient actually receives will be less than what is displayed on
the TCP. To prevent this from occurring:
