DRIVE (D)
This range should be used for normal
driving. It provides the smoothest
shifting and best fuel economy.
WINTER MODE (W)
Press the ⬙W⬙ switch on the shift panel
to accelerate in second gear. This func-
tion is used in snowy or icy conditions.
Automatic Transaxle Manual Shift
Mode
The automatic transaxle manual shift
mode allows you to maximize engine
braking, eliminate undesirable up-
shifts and downshifts, and improve
overall vehicle performance. This
mode can also provide you with more
control while passing, city driving,
slippery driving, mountain driving,
and many other driving conditions.
Automatic Transaxle Manual Shift
Operation
The manual shift mode can be acti-
vated only when the shift lever is in
the DRIVE (D) range. Move the shift
lever to the right side to activate the
manual shift mode. Moving the shift
lever to the (+) side will upshift the
transaxle to the next higher gear. In
the same manner, moving the shift le-
ver to the (-) side will downshift the
transaxle to the next lower gear. After
the manual shift mode is activated,
the gear selected is displayed in the
instrument cluster. Moving the shift le-
ver to the (+) or (-) direction will cause
an upshift or downshift by one gear.
NOTE:
Downshifts in the manual shift
mode are only allowed when the vehicle
speed has slowed to the allowable
range.
