15. Coolant Temperature Gauge
The temperature
gauge shows engine
coolant tempera-
ture. Any reading
within the normal
range indicates that
the engine cooling
system is operating properly. The
pointer may show a higher than nor-
mal temperature when driving in hot
weather, up mountain grades, in heavy
stop-and-go traffic, or when towing a
trailer. The instrument cluster will
sound a chime when the pointer rises
to the ⬙H⬙ (red) mark. If this occurs,
safely pull over and stop the vehicle.
Then idle the vehicle with the air con-
ditioner turned off until the pointer
drops back into the normal range. If
the pointer remains on the ⬙H⬙ (red)
mark, turn the engine off immediately
and call for service.
16. Anti-Lock Brake Warning Light
(ABS)
This light monitors the Anti-
Lock Brake System (ABS).
The light will turn on when
the ignition switch is turned
to the ON position and may stay on for
several seconds. During this time, the
ABS is performing its self-check cycle
to ensure that the system is working
properly. If the light remains on or
turns on while driving, it indicates that
the Anti-Lock portion of the brake sys-
tem is not functioning and that service
is required. However, the conven-
tional brake system will continue to
operate normally, provided the
BRAKE warning light is not on. If the
ABS light is on, the brake system
should be serviced as soon as pos-
sible to restore the benefit of Anti-
Lock brakes. Refer to “Brake System”
in Chapter 4 of this manual for more
information.
17. Oil Pressure Light
This light shows low engine
oil pressure. The light will
turn on and remain on for
several seconds when the ig-
nition switch is turned from the LOCK
or ACC position to the ON position.
The light will turn off after the engine
is started. If the light does not turn on
during starting, have the system
checked by an authorized Chery
dealer. If the light turns on and re-
mains on while driving, safely bring
the vehicle to a stop and shut the en-
gine off. Check the engine oil level
and verify it is in the proper operating
range. If the oil pressure light remains
on, have the vehicle towed to an au-
thorized Chery dealer.
18. Seat Belt Reminder Light
This light will illuminate for
about six seconds when the
ignition switch is first turned
