208 Driving and operating
In manual mode, downward shifts
are made automatically when the
vehicle slows down. When the
vehicle stops, 1st gear is
automatically selected.
Engine braking
To help use the braking effect of
engine compression when driving on
a long downhill select manual mode
downshift to a lower gear in a
sequential order.
Note
Use of engine compression during
long mountainous descents may
prolong the life of your brakes.
Rocking the vehicle
Rocking the vehicle is only
permissible if the vehicle is stuck in
sand, mud or snow.
Move the selector lever between D
and R in a repeat pattern.
Do not race the engine and avoid
sudden acceleration.
Parking
After stop the vehicle with pressing
the brake pedal, engage P and pull
the parking brake lever up firmly and
then remove ignition key.
Caution
Shift properly according to road
conditions.
{Warning
Do not downshift transmission by
two or more gear positions at a
time.
This prevents damage to your
transmission or loss of control and
personal injuries.
