OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
To Estimate Pulling Capacity:
1. On flat, smooth ground the Winch has a pulling capacity of 9,000 pounds.
2.
NOTE: The Winch’s pulling capacity is reduced as inclines increase. For ex-
ample, pulling capacity is reduced from 9,000 pounds on flat ground to approxi-
mately 1,600 pounds on a 45° incline. Refer to the Chart for estimated pulling
capacities (rolling weight) on various inclines. (See Figure B.)
Operating The Winch, Using One Strand Of The Cable:
1. When pulling an object: Place the vehicle’s transmission in “Park”. Set the emer-
gency brake, and block the wheels from rolling, using suitable chocks (not in-
cluded). Note: This type of winch is often used to extricate the vehicle it’s
mounted on. In such cases, the transmission should be in “Neutral” and the brake
off.
2.
NOTE: You may wish to keep the vehicle’s engine running while using the Winch
to continually recharge the battery. However, use extreme caution when working
around a vehicle with its engine running.
3. Disengage the winch clutch by moving the Cam Ring (11) to the OUT position.
