What to do if material frays or chips out when using my Chicago Electric 61971?
    • C
      Christina HendersonJul 27, 2025
To prevent material from fraying or chipping when using your Chicago Electric Saw, ensure the finished side of the material is facing up. The bottom and back are more prone to chipping. Inspect the blade for damage and sharpen or replace it if needed. Select a blade appropriate for the material you're cutting; for hardwood crosscuts and precision cuts, use a thin kerf blade with 60 or more teeth. Also, use a piece of scrap material (like 1/4" plywood) underneath or behind the material to support its edges during cutting.

Why does the blade bind, slowing or stopping my Chicago Electric 61971?
    • V
      Veronica MatthewsAug 3, 2025
If the blade of your Chicago Electric Saw binds, slowing or stopping the saw, it may be due to misalignment or lack of support for the material. Ensure the material is flat on the table, flush against the fence, and supported on both ends. Also, the material might be wet or contaminated, or the blade might not be suitable. Check the condition of the material and the compatibility of the blade with the material.

If wood burns at the ends when cut with your Chicago Electric Saw, it could be due to a dirty blade or material binding. Clean the blade using blade cleaner or mineral spirits. Ensure the work material is flat, flush against the fence, and supported on the ends on the table.
