What to do if my Chicago Electric 90045 will not start?
    • B
      Brandon HarrisonJul 30, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Sander won't start, first ensure the cord is properly plugged in. Then, check if the outlet has power. If not, check the circuit breaker, making sure the circuit capacity is adequate and not overloaded. If your tool has a thermal reset breaker, turn it off, let it cool, and press the reset button. If none of these steps work, it may have internal damage or wear, and should be serviced by a qualified technician.

Why is my Chicago Electric Sander overheating?
    • D
      David PruittAug 5, 2025
Overheating in your Chicago Electric Sander can occur if you're forcing the tool to work too fast; allow it to work at its own pace. A dull or damaged sanding belt can also cause overheating, so replace it as needed. Blocked motor housing vents can be another reason; wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and a NIOSH-approved dust mask/respirator while blowing dust out of the motor using compressed air. Finally, a long or small diameter extension cord straining the motor can cause overheating. Eliminate the extension cord or use one with the proper diameter for its length and load.

    • U
      uleeAug 11, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Sander's performance decreases over time, it could be due to a dull or damaged sanding belt, which should be replaced. Another cause could be worn or damaged carbon brushes, which should be replaced by a qualified technician.

    Caleb WilliamsAug 17, 2025
Why does my Chicago Electric Sander operate slowly?
    • B
      Brandi WallaceAug 17, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Sander operates slowly, the extension cord might be too long or the wire size too small. Try eliminating the extension cord. If you need one, use a shorter, heavier gauge cord.

What to do if my Chicago Electric 90045 is making excessive noise?
    • D
      devin84Aug 23, 2025
If your Chicago Electric Sander is making excessive noise or rattling, it could be due to internal damage or wear, such as with the carbon brushes or bearings. In this case, have a technician service the tool.
