Do you have a question about the Chroma 19501-K and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Chroma 19501-K is a Partial Discharge Tester designed primarily for discharge detection on low-capacity, small coulomb number (pC) applications. It offers a maximum output of 10kV AC voltage and can test partial discharge from 1pC to 2000pC. This tester incorporates several advanced features to identify poor photocoupler manufacturing processes and is compliant with IEC 60270 and IEC 60747-5-5 standards.

Function Description:

The core function of the 19501-K is to perform high-pot and partial discharge measurements. It provides a detected partial discharge (PD[PC]) value display and offers a high-precision and resolution ammeter with a range of 0.01uA to 300.0uA. For defect judgment, the tester allows setting PD occurrences from 1 to 10 times. It includes a built-in IEC60747-5-5 test standard and supports a 3-stage voltage test to meet various safety and quality requirements. A contact check function (HVCC) is also integrated. The device can save up to 200 test conditions in its memory and features a graphical editing function. For data management and reporting, it offers a screen capture function via USB and supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and English operating interfaces. Remote control capabilities are provided through USB, LAN, RS-232, and Handler interfaces.

Usage Features:

The tester's front panel features an LCD that clearly displays all settings, including time, current, voltage, resistance, and memory number, eliminating the need for users to memorize parameters. The interface includes function keys for various operations such as starting/stopping tests, recalling/correcting/programming tests, and managing memory (store, recall, disk, page up/down, copy, paste, delete). System settings allow configuration of test control, system configuration, key lock, PD calibration (200pC and 2000pC ranges), PD verification, password changes, backup programs, calibration, and general information. The device supports various testing methods (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5) compliant with IEC60747-5-5. It also includes a "Current Get Offset" function to empty load current before testing. The PD Non-Stop Testing feature allows the test to continue even if a PD Fail is detected in earlier stages, waiting until all stages are complete before showing a final FAIL result.

Maintenance Features:

The device requires proper packing and storage in a suitable environment when not in use. For freight, it should be carefully packed, marked "fragile" and "keep away from water." The product is precision test equipment and should not be dropped or hit. In case of malfunction, users should refer to the manual or contact a local distributor. Internal parts should not be touched by operating personnel. Regular checks and calibration are recommended every 12 months to ensure specifications are met. For cleaning, the input power cord must be unplugged. Dust on the surface can be cleaned with a brush, and internal dust with a low-pressure air gun, or the device can be sent to an agent for cleaning. The manual also provides detailed safety precautions, including grounding instructions, warnings about high voltage, and procedures for emergency situations.
