Obtain IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server info from your ISP.
Connect router to LAN, modem to router's Internet port, and power.
Navigate to network connections, open TCP/IP properties, and note current settings.
Configure PC to get IP address and DNS automatically.
Open Internet Explorer to access the router configuration interface.
Enter router IP address (192.168.1.1) and log in with admin credentials.
Set router's LAN IP, subnet mask, and WAN connection type (Static IP).
Fill in the specific IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server addresses.
Save router settings and power cycle the DSL/Cable modem.
Revert PC network settings to their previous state.
Use the diagnostic tab to ping a website and verify connectivity.
Ensure the Enable DHCP Server checkbox is not checked.
Configure PPTP server, set IP range, and enable the feature.
