ELECTRICVEHICLE-TROUBLESHOOTING
ANDELECTRICALSYSTEM
4.1.WithTow/RunswitchintheRUNpositionandusingamultimetersetto20voltsDC,placetheblack(–)
probeonthebatteryno.6(6x8-Voltbatteryset)negativepostandplacered(+)probeonredwireterminal
socketinthree-pinconnector.Thevoltagereadingshouldbeapproximately15to16volts.
4.2.Ifthevoltagereadingiszerovolts,checkthecontinuityoftheredwirefromthe16-pinconnectoratthe
speedcontrollertothethree-pinconnectoratthemotorspeedsensor.Ifthewirecontinuityiscorrect,
replacethespeedcontroller.
4.3.Ifthereadingisbelow14volts,replacethespeedcontroller.
4.4.Ifthevoltagereadingiscorrect,proceedtothefollowingstep.
5.Checkvoltageatthelightgreenwire:
5.1.Usingamultimetersetto20voltsDC,placetheblack(–)probeonthebatteryno.6(6x8-Voltbatteryset)
negativepostandplacethered(+)probeonthelightgreenwirefemaleterminalinthethree-pinconnector
atthemotorspeedsensor.Thevoltagereadingshouldbefrom4.60to4.90volts.
5.2.Ifthevoltageiszerovolts,checkthecontinuityofthelightgreenwirefromthe16-pinconnectoratthe
speedcontrollertothethree-pinconnectoratthemotorspeedsensor.Ifthecontinuityiscorrect,replace
thespeedcontroller.
5.3.Ifreadingisbelow3.50volts,checkthecontinuityofthewiresandplugandreplacethespeedcontrollerif
necessary.
6.Reconnectthethree-pinconnectoratthemotorspeedsensor.Usingamultimetersetto20voltsDC,placethe
black(–)probeonthebatteryno.6(6x8-Voltbatteryset)negativepostandplacethered(+)probe(with
insulation-piercingprobe)onthegreenwirebetweenthethree-pinconnectorandthemotorspeedsensor.
6.1.Raiseonerearwheeloffground.Slowlyturntherearwheeltorotatethemotorarmature.Asthearmature
rotates,thevoltagereadingshouldalternatefromzerotoapproximately4.85volts.Thevoltagereadingwill
uctuatefromzeroto4.85voltsandbacktozerofourtimesforeachrevolutionofthemotorarmature.
NOTE:Thevoltagereadingof4.85isanapproximatereading.Theactualreadingmayvaryfrom4.50to5.00volts.
6.2.Replacethespeedsensorifanyofthefollowingresultsoccur:
Thereisnovoltagereading.
Thevoltagereadingisnotabove3.50.
Thevoltagereadingdoesnotuctuateasthemotoristurned.

1.Placechocksatthefrontwheelsandlifttherearofthevehiclewithachainhoistoroorjack.Positionjackstands
undertheframerailsjustforwardofeachspringmount.SeeWARNING“Liftonlyoneend...”inGeneral

WARNING
Keeppeopleandequipmentclearfromrotatingrearwheels.Donotallowpersonsunderthecar.
Contactwithrotatingrearwheelscouldresultinseriouspersonalinjury.
2.Withthebatteriesconnectedandusingamultimetersetto200voltsDC,placetheblack(–)probeontheA2
motorterminal(whitewire)andconnectthered(+)probetotheA1(greenwire)motorterminal.
3.WithTow/RunswitchintheRUNposition,placetheForward/ReverseswitchintheFORWARDposition,turnkey
switchtotheONpositionandslowlypressacceleratorpedal.
