First weeks after surgery
Once the dressing is removed, follow
the instructions from your hearing health
professional and maintain good daily
hygiene around the abutment to reduce the
risk of redness or soreness. Wash your hair
carefully and use an alcohol-free cleaning
wipe to keep the skin clean.
Daily cleaning
After a few weeks, start cleaning the
outside of the abutment daily using
mild soap and plenty of warm water. An
alcohol-free cleaning wipe should be used
to remove any debris around the base of
the abutment. Once clean, the area should
be gently dried with a clean towel or tissue.
Any hair wrapped around the abutment
should be removed.
Weekly cleaning
The inside of the abutment should be
cleaned on a weekly basis, using alcohol-
free cleaning wipes or mild soap and
warm water to avoid damage of the
sound processor. The cleaning must be
gentle. Should you experience soreness
or inammation, or if the abutment
feels loose, contact your hearing health
professional.
Attaching and removing your
sound processor
Your Baha 6 Max Sound Processor will
snap onto the abutment easily. Attach
it at a slight angle and tilt or rock it into
place, taking care to keep your hair out
of the way. The tilt technique reduces
the pressure on the abutment and
prevents any discomfort. Make sure
you never push the sound processor
straight on to the abutment.
To remove the sound processor, lift
your hair, slide a ngertip under it and
gently tilt it until it snaps o. Never pull
the sound processor straight o the
abutment.
Protecting your abutment
When you’re not wearing your sound
processor, we recommend you protect
the abutment with the press-on
abutment cover provided with your
sound processor.
