When inspecting th e ro tor and cap the breaker points should also be examined and if grey-
ish in colour
or only slightly pi tte d. and have a gap of between .018 to .022 th ey need not
be replaced.
If the gap is not between .018 and .022 loosen th e lock screw as indicated by
arrow
(l) and using acc urate feel er gaug es as indicated by arrow (2) set points within
the above limits by turn
ing adj usting scr ew as indicated by arr ow num ber (3) and re-
check aft er tight ening the lock scr ew. If th e points ar e badly pitted th ey should be replac-
ed. as refaced or filed contacts do
not have th e neces sary sha pe and finish for sati sfa ctory
performance.
If new points are not in alignment w h en installed bend the s ta tionary
b
ra cket as indicated by arr ow (4) to secure proper alignment. "DO NOT BEND THE
BREAKER ARM" as indicated by ar row (5 ).
Be sure
that distributor points ar e clean and dry.
If dirt y they should be cleaned with refined C ar bon Te trach loride.
250 HOUR LUBRICATION - Add one
dr op only .of lig ht engine oil to the bre aker arm
hinge pin as indicated by arr ow (6). Add 3 to 5 drops of light engine oil to th e
felt in
the top of th e br eaker cam and to the governor weight pivots and slots. A
slight wipe of
grea se should be applied to each lobe of the break er cam.
