Before starting
• The log splitter should be placed on afirm and level surface.
• Inspect thelog splitter to make sure that all nuts and bolts are securely tightened and that there is no visible
damage to themains lead, theplug or thepower switch.
• Connect themains lead to anearthed wall socket. Thewall socket should be protected by aresidual current
device (RCD) with anactuating current of 30mA. Donot route themains lead where it could be damaged or
where someone could trip overit.
Splitting a log
• Always place theleast knotty end of thelog toward
thewedge, always split along thegrain.
• Lay thelog as stably as possible between thelog
retaining plates.
• Start themotor by pressing and holding in the
power switch.
• Start thehydraulic ram by depressing thecontrollever.
• The hydraulic ram will now force thelog against
thesplittingwedge.
• Release thecontrol lever and thepower switch to
discontinue thesplitting operation, thereturn springs
will now return theram to its starting position.
Important: If thewood does not start to split after 5 seconds despite full pressure: release thecontrol lever
and thepower switch and let theram return to thestarting position. Turnthelog through 90 degrees and try to
split itagain.
Important: Unscrew thebleed screw 3 or 4 turns
to ensure adetectable flow of air to theoil tank while
thelog splitter is in operation.
