5. PLACEMENT OF COMPONENTS AND HOW THEY WORK
1.1 Saddle and seatpost
The saddle must be mounted on the seatpost, in a horizontal
position and centred in line with the top tube of the frame.
The seatpost must be inserted in the bicycle frame far enough
not to leave visible the height limit engraved on the side of it.
Close the frame’s quick-release to fasten the seatpost in the
frame.
1.2 Handlebar and handlebar stem
The handlebar must be mounted on the handlebar stem and
tightened with its fastening screws.
The handlebar stem joins the handlebar to the frame and must
be centred in line with the front wheel.
1.3 Front wheel, rear wheel and tyres
The front wheel must be centred in relation to the fork and
mounted on it with the quick-release.
The rear wheel, like the front one, must be centred in relation to
the frame and mounted on it with the quick-release.
The tyres must have the appropriate air pressure for each type
of situation. Their tread must be well dened.
1.4 Brakes
A key part of the bicycle, they must be adjusted and the shoes
must not be excessively worn. Replace them if they are.
1.5 Pedals
Plastic, steel or aluminium, they must revolve around their axle.
1.6 Lights
Check they are working properly and are aligned with your
bicycle. You should keep your lights clean.
